I always knew Frank and Leslie Dean were trickass bitches. We've been fucking knew.
[molly] " i'm sorry. "
“Hey,” Chase says, softly, but firmly, the way only an adult who cares about you very much can. “This is not your fault. None of this is your fault.”
“You went a little too far. You hid some stuff from us. Molly, that’s... that’s just being a kid. You’re a teenager now.”
“I don’t want to treat you like you’re our cutesy mascot, but---we’re the adults. Your legal guardians. You don’t have to grow up too soon or take on all our baggage.”
“You make me so damn happy to be alive, to have you in my life. You give me a purpose. You’re the reason I wake up in the morning and go to my shitty job and do it with a smile on my face. You’re my sunshine, Princess---but that’s not all you are. You’re allowed to fuck up. That’s kinda what all of our family does. A lot. Fuck up and get fucked up. But even when we all try to be better for the sake of each other---people mess up sometimes, and KIDS mess up even more. We’re not perfect. We weren’t perfect when we were your age. I’m never going to ask you to be.” The way his Dad tried to force him to be, before... well.
“I don’t want you to have to apologize to me for making way less shitty mistakes than I would have.”
“You know what? Fuck this rambling! Damn it, Molly. I’m proud of you right now.” He holds her hands in his fists, shakes them with scrunched eyebrows, but determined to smile. “You made a mistake... but you owned up to it. You told me about it, so we can handle it together, as a family.”
“That’s more grown up than most grown ups can figure out all on their own.”
“You’re a good kid, Molly.”
“Thank you for telling me about this.”
“I’m proud of you,” he repeats. As if that’s all that matters.
@omoon [ nico & luna ] 📞 📞 📞
[ text : Luna Maximoff ] hey! this is nico. full-time runaway, technically a-force? i’ve been told i apparently said something weird to you at one of those super-kid parties? got your number from brandon. just wanted to apologize if i made it weird. i do that sometimes. but if you ever wanted to hang out with me and my family if yours ever gets too stuffy, here’s our current hideout! [ ADDRESS. ]
[ text: Luna Maximoff] it’s gotta be hard having as many celebrities in your family as you do. i’m not saying you should be a full-time runaway.... but if you ever wanted to run away from it all for an hour or two. we’re here AND we get it AND we have a ps5. (don’t ask how.)
i haven’t talked barely at all about the runaways on this blog but they’re so important to me. (thats why their on this blog lol.)
i honestly feel like they should be 23-25 at this point with molly being like 16/17, but idk. they just have this little broken family. chase and nico haven’t graduated high school and still they’re working to support this whole family on MINIMUM WAGE... they’re so painfully millenial and i feel like tbh every millenial comic book fan has grown up with them bc runaways v1 is like baby’s first trade paperback. rainbow rowell is doing such a good job with them but also i just want them all to be able to fall apart bc their situation is always so precarious and predicated on so much guilt, so much homelessness and perpetual fuck up and fuck up after running away from their problems & their lives and like? that’s so relatable..... rip
and now in canon! gert is LITERALLY still the millenial teenager from 009 (aka when pop culture died), and nico & chase are face to face with the realities that they have aged and been even further traumatized and fucked up and gert has not and gert just feels like chase didn’t wait for her and ahhhh! ah!!!!!
stan the runaways for good vibes and the ability to lock ur problems up in a little box that will end up destroying u one day if u let it
OPEN STARTER : CHASE STEIN
Some habits never die. Chase has his hair in a mess of pigtails and braids and purple and pink zig-zag extensions, a stunning compliment to his ripped-up crop top and similarly weathered jeans. He’s used to stares. Has been his whole life, and that was well before the dinosaur started following him around. He figures no stare is as bad as his Father’s was---no vitriol, no hatred as damning & scary. Now that his Father’s dead---he can wear what he wants, eat what he wants, listen to whatever ‘fruity’ music he wants, and rest assured that whatever Molly puts in his hair---he’ll look damn cute with it in there.
It’s nice. That the memories can’t hurt him, even when they kinda still try to, and kind of sometimes do in an emotional way. But not a physical way! (It’s never been a physical way...)
He pulls off his headphones, stopping right before he collides his cart full of chocolate, cat treats, tampons AND pads (different people with vaginas like DIFFERENT things, regardless of whether their cycles sync up) with another.
“Oops. Sorry. My bad.” He pulls backwards.
also i’ve decided to rewatch runaways. gotta support the show on network tv
Author: kingdomheartshera Rating: PG-13 Pairing: Billy/Teddy, Xavin/Karolina Summary: "I think I'm going to ask Xavin to train me." Why: This is a series of slightly longer snapshots mostly about Billy and Teddy, but the last one is about Xavin and Karolina from Runaways. I loved every single one, but the first one, where Billy and Karolina share a conversation on a beach was just lovely and very insightful. I like to go back and find fic where the team was still whole. Sigh.
