either his mind is his own or it is not

His gas tank hits empty in Alabama. It’s hot and dry and the hood of his car burns his hand when he leans on it. The sign he just passed says Welcome to Birmingham and he thinks that he has never been here before. He doesn’t recognize its easy smiles or the accent that coats everyone’s vowels like molasses and turns every hello he hears into Are you alright there son.

He walks down a main street named Main Street, waiting for the temperature to drop, and thinks Yes I am alright and pretends that he is a person and that he is telling the truth.

He remembers a different city: one that never got this hot without raising a stink to match, sweet air wafting from candy shops’ open windows to mix with the acrid scent of spilled beer and settling smoke.

He walks down lazy streets and lets his eyes lose focus, lets memories of a forgotten time superimpose themselves on tan buildings. It’s dangerous, this courting of the past. It warps the worried expressions he is so used to seeing into open smiles.

I may have mentioned fandomaid before, the fandom fundraiser on livejournal that is currently trying to raise funds for Nepal.

Since the need in Nepal is so dire, they’ve added an extra post where people can offer to donate in exchange for specific requests for icons, fics, art, ...

I made a request here, asking for Teen Wolf crossovers focusing on Scott. I can only afford to donate about 30€, but I’m willing to donate 1€ for every 100 words of a Scott McCall centric Teen Wolf fic up to a total of that amount. (preferably either with no, or minimal Stiles and definitely no Sterek)

So if you want to either fill my request, or have one of your own.... go do so. Not only will you either get something you want,  or you’ll be able to fill someone else’s request, but you’ll be helping people in Nepal on top of it.
