The Gates of Avalon is a wip interactive fiction following Lancelot!MC, the companion of Prince Arthur and his best knight.
The lands are dying under King Uther’s iron rule and it seems war with the north is inevitable. Yet there's another, more pressing matter. Something has gone terribly wrong at the sacred isle of Avalon. There’re whispers of whole villages gone, of ghouls running freely in their streets. Talks of trolls that have gotten bolder and started to leave mountains, of harpies moving their nests and attacking settlements.
Blinded with greed, the King decides battling a foreign ruler is more important than protecting his own people and lands. A royal decree is issued. Under the punishment of death, no knight is allowed to leave Camelot.
Prince Arthur doesn’t care. He and a group of knights leave for Avalon before dawn.

THE ROS
Prince Arthur Pendragon (he/him): the Prince of Camelot and the leader of the Knights of the Round table, Arthur is a walking contradiction. He’s a brilliant stategist and warrior, able to think quickly on his feet, but fights with a snarl on his face and eyes narrowed into slits. He’s quick to anger, almost always slightly frowning and is incredibly arrogant. Yet he values his friends and people highly, ready to die for any of them in a blink of an eye. He has...a complicated relationship with his father, King Uther. One that made him treat any of his failures as something unacceptable.
Knight Gawaine (M/F): one of the knights of the Round Table and one of your oldest friends, Gawaine is warm, friendly and likes to crack jokes. They’re liked by all, yet fight like they still have something to prove. You don’t know much about their life before they arrived to Camelot, no one does. They’re always quick to deflect with a smile, one that doesn’t quite reach their eyes. Gawaine is most proficient with double daggers and throwing knives and they’re the shortest of the knights.
Princess Morgaine le Fay (she/they) - The princess of Camelot and half-sister to Arthur Pendragon, Morgaine has a tongue that’s too sharp for her own good and attitude that makes more enemies than friends. They detest fighting with weapons and instead cultivate their powerful magical abilites, some of which might be a bit questionable...
Gwynnever (Gwyn) (F/M) - loud, excited and barefoot. Those were some of your first impressions when you first met Gwyn in the middle of the woods during your quest. Bluntly honest and a bit naive, Gwynnever is a forest fae that loves to sing and specialises in healing magic, which also does enormous damage to the undead. Fun.

It starts as a normal college morning for you, suddenly you have dream about a dead woman, your barista seems to know more than he lets on and a Coachella cultist lookalike kidnaps you. Somewhere in between you travel to Shanghai. A normal college morning, am I right?
The Second Prophecy is a compilation of stories inside a bigger one. Yours is not the only one that matters. But it might be the one to cause the Apocalypse.

THE LOVE INTERESTS
The Seer (M/F/NB)
The Seer is one of the most respected agents of the Temple, in fact they are the next High Priest/ess in line. They are in charge of some Prophecies and has always done their job well, but what happens when a Prophecy dies? A Second Prophecy replaces them as stated by the book. The problem? This has never happened before and Seer is to blame for forsaking Time itself.
The Hand (Genderfluid)
Hand’s job is making sure the Second Prophecy doesn’t veer too much of track, in case they need to fulfill their destiny, giving their charge is a Second Prophecy this is not very likely. At first she was angry at being assigned such a lowly job but then they discoved Earth, it has beaches, maybe this isn’t so bad. And then they met their charge, and yeah, Earth suddenly didn’t sound bad at all. He is a shapeshifter, who you know as Paolo, your Italian barista.
Sera Nuala Hyrcanus, the Burning One (F)
A princess from an Arthurian kingdom fallen from grace. Also a rebel Prophecy who lost everything and was killed by her own parents. Good thing she can come back to life (sometimes). She now leads the resistance, the Burning Blade, against the Temple, striving to give every Prophecy the free will that was stolen from her.
Hemal Naveen (NB)
Hemal is your average college student. They are very caring, the mom friend everyone wants and needs. They are also smart enough fo win a scholarship. They love science and are the Prophecy's best friend. Very optimistic and always up for anything. Oh, they also have superpowers and can control the atmosphere, but really don't focus on that. It's just one of their many quirks, nothing special, they have just never told anyone about it.
Oskar Lindberg (M)
Young heir to the Lindberg Empire, only son of mom and dad, Oskar is a normal spoiled rich kid. Emphasis on spoiled. The tabloids have a field day with him and daddy isn't happy about it. He isn't either. Everyone, including his parents think there is something wrong with him. He thinks so too. So what if he hears voices? That can be solved with alcohol, not like the doctors and the exorcist from that one time ever did much for him.
Hidden in the depths of the Forest of Curses is a nursery for supernatural beings. Every day, the creatures of the forest bring in their children, and have them interact with each other and learn through giggles and games.
You have seen it all; it's 800 years since the nursery came to be, after all. Creatures have evolved since. And particularly supernatural beings, who now have to take care of their day jobs too, and thus, entrust their kids to you.
You are the caregiver, responsible for the children—ages one to twelve, and watch over them until the last child is picked up and sent back home. It is your duty to protect the nursery from the outside world.
But lately, your magic has been waning. The barriers aren't as strong as they used to be, and without your protection, the Forest of Curses is bound to become much darker and sinister with the arrival of strange creatures from beyond.
Will you find a way to replenish your strength and keep the nursery safe? Or will you be forced to watch everything crumble, and leave your children to the mercy of the monsters that lurk outside the forest?
Play as an aroace main character that simply wishes to help every being that passes by their nursery. Customize appearance, gender and pronouns!
Become the children's precious role model and keep them away from harm—make bad decisions or guide them down the path of righteousness!
Develop friendships and learn about the lives of some parents (give relationship advice from an outsider's perspective...or don't)
Build a community of supportive families and fill the gaps in their broken hearts!
Keep the darkness and dangers away from the nursery...unless you want to say goodbye to everything and everyone you've ever loved.
Maeve and Lorna (both F)
An ancient couple trapped in eternal youth. Their curse was set a couple thousand years ago, but as they failed to find a cursebreaker, it has never been lifted—not that they let it stop them.
Mothers to a young half-fae called Mirna (8). She is enthusiastic and easy to impress, and has lately become obsessed with something humans like to call "chemistry". Her parents oftentimes drop her off with boxes full of tubes, spoons and chemicals.
That, according to her, is all "sciency-stuff".
Despite your worst fears, she has turned out to be neat and organized when it comes to her experiments. She hasn't made anything explode so far. You trust her with your life.
Louis the werewolf (M)
Considering he's an old friend of yours, you can safely say that you've seen his decline from a young, energetic wolf pup to an exhausted parent in his forties. He's a recent divorcee that regularly tries to spend time with his children.
You have offered to help him more than once, because his kids can be some of the rowdiest werewolves in the area. He couldn't deny the help he very much needed, but only two of his eight kids attend your nursery... something you are grateful for.
Zar (6) and Kali (6) are fraternal twins—they can never quite agree on which one was born first. They are rascals, with the bulky Zar being tamer than his sister, but you adore them despite their countless schemes and play fights that often end badly.
Keep an eye on them, will ya?
Haelin the fae (NB)
Faeries don't have biological parents, as you are well aware. They are born from a baby's first laugh, and swept away by the wind until they gather enough strength to build a corporeal form for themselves.
Haelin never had parents either, but they found a newborn fae stuck on a leaf and decided it was probably best to care for the poor thing, unless they wished for it to grow without love.
Samor (10) is fast, possibly one of the fastest supernatural beings you've ever met, and he regularly trains his fae abilities like disappearance and teleportation, which only gets you in trouble.
He's surprisingly lazy otherwise. You have to insist a lot for him to do anything that doesn't ignite his interest, and even then, he will probably not listen.
Aclis the vampire (F)
She's goth, she's the moment. Aclis has gone around with her band for decades, and just recently settled in the Forest of Curses for a much deserved vacation. Obviously, she brought her kid with her.
Whisper (3) is a Kakoburra mix. You're not quite sure what to make of her. With only three years of age, Whisper has yet to grow any eyes or feathers. So far, only her horns have started to grow.
She is shy, to the point she doesn't speak a word to you or to anyone at the nursery. She does speak to her mother, though.
Aclis' boyfriend, Sawyer, picks Whisper up sometimes, when her mom's busy. He's a cool dude. Very goth. Nate, Sawyer and Aclis' boyfriend, also stops by often to check how she's doing. He's very kind and nice. He's not goth, but, in Aclis' words, "Exceptions can be made...for the right person."
Your child (F/M/NB)
Your child is twelve years old, right at the age limit for the nursery you've established, but this one has never left the safety of the place, not even once.
Not since you found them.
It has always been hard for them, and you are aware of this fact. They don't exactly get along with the other kids, they eat very little and whenever they look at you it's with saddened, hurt eyes. You don't know how to help them.
And it's tearing you apart from the inside.
Wundergarten (Garden of Wonders) is meant as a side project, so the demo will take some time to drop. I'm currently working on the demo for another IF, and I really need to finish working on that one before I start this one, but I wanted to write the concept and ideas down before I forgot, so here they are!
Warning (read): this is not a romance story. Side characters may fall in and out of love with each other, but the MC won't be part of any romances or love triangles of any sort, at any point of the game.
I thought I’d share a little sneakpeek of what you’ll be doing in chapter 2! The demo is still on track to release during the winter months, I’ll get more precise as I work on chapter 3!
As you walk through the capital city of Ahn-Seriel, you’ll get to meet one of the ahns, the little fae creatures who give their name and their power to the Ahn’né people.
Your exhaustion is drawing in a cloud of ahns, flying around you at a small distance. You see people giving you quick glances when they notice, your upper body almost glowing with the many little lights, dancing as they follow you.
One of the ahns comes closer and closer, until they land lightly on your shoulder. Completely weightless, you only notice them because of the light they emit hitting right into the corner of your eye.
[[You accept the help of the ahn.|2.2.1]]
[[You politely decline the help of the ahn.|2.2.2]]
You’ll cross paths with the barge docks, where the Ondines man the barge system that runs through the Dreaming Woods.
The capital city is split in two by the river, barges passing through multiple times a day and offering the fastest way of travel through the Continent that doesn't rely on irha.
You've never personally interacted with an Ondine before, despite a few of them living on the docks of Ahn-Seriel, and many more in the waters flowing directly inside the city.
[[That's one of the reasons you're so excited to ship out soon.|2.5.1]]
[[You're a bit apprehensive at the idea of leaving the city.|2.5.2]]
[[You've never cared much about meeting the other races.|2.5.3]]
And as you finally get home, to the mother-tree where House Haravel resides, you’ll get to interact with a member of House Haravel, your kin.
House Haravel is the largest Dreamer kingroup in Weavers Grove. An entire mother-tree serves as home for your kinsmen, whereas most Houses and other citizens of Ahn-Seriel share the space of the giant dreaming elms throughout the city. [...]
[[At last, you enter.|2.8]]
Every last one of your senses is assaulted as soon as you cross through the veil. A loud clamor is accompanied by a flash of blue light, and something heavy barrels into you with all its might.
[[It's Enor, your twin.|2.8.1]]
[[It's Dülla, your neqe.|2.8.2]]
[[It's Sÿlen, your best friend.|2.8.3]]
I hope you’ll enjoy playing through the Shadowwalkers at least half as much as I enjoy writing it! All questions about the world and the story are more than welcome as we wait together for the release.
“May God… grant you likewise the gift of surpassing in knightly excellence all the knights living today. And much of your fate I know.”
The Red and White Knight is an Interactive Fiction heavily based on Medieval Arthurian Literature, especially the Vulgate Cycle, where you play as Lancelot Du Lac from his beginnings as a knight to his death
Warnings: This story will contain violence, blood, a cavalier treatment of death and murder, kidnapping, drugging, possible suicide, mentions of incest, and references to sexual assault (I swear this game isn’t supposed to be that dark, the literature just has a lot of questionable things in it)
“Then there appeared the White Knight who was bearing the white shield with the black band...”
Your home under the water with your mother and her companions is all you’ve ever known, but it was not the life you saw for yourself. You knew your calling lied outside the fairy realm. You have just left you home and your mother with only the shining white armor, horse and shield she gifted you, to become a Knight of the Round Table at Camelot.
The life of a Knight of the Round Table is not an easy one though. In a land moving in and out of the fairy realm, time and morality do not work the same, and magic and death are imbedded in Camelot’s very foundation. This is not made easier with Arthur’s constant wars against human and fairy alike.
You may not know your name yet, but you know Camelot’s fate is tied to yours.
Play as gay, straight, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, aromantic, and/or polyamorous
Meet and bond with the Knights of the Round table and avert or play through their tragedies
Romance your fellow knights, the queen, or mischievous fairies (7 romance options- 2 Female, 2 Male, 2 Non-Binary, 1 Gender selectable)
Go on quests from medieval stories and explore the world of Arthurian Europe
Become the greatest knight of the Round Table and a powerful member of Arthur’s court
Play out the tragedy of Camelot or defy fate
Romances
Queen Guinevere of Camelot (She/Her)
“Nor was he wrong to admire no other woman as he did the queen, for she was sovereign of all women and the very font of beauty.”
Arthur’s young and ambitious wife. You have only just met her and, just like everyone else, you’re entranced. Guinevere seems taken with you as well, given how eagerly she wants you to be her champion. In spite of only recently rising to the throne, Guinevere is already positioning herself as the true ruler of Camelot, with Arthur constantly off on conquests. Will you help her secure her power or remain loyal to the king? And why do you feel such a strong need to be around her?
King Arthur of Camelot (He/Him)
"King Arthur," he said, "God keep you Everyone bears witness... the best of kings, the most true and powerful, the one who helps the helpless and, counsels, aids and supports them."
The current king of Logres and the surrounding lands. He is said to be a greater king than his ancestors, chosen by Merlin himself, and is seeking to build a strong knighthood to protect his kingdom. He has taken an interest in you as a powerful knight for his Round Table. While the Round Table has been growing back in Camelot, Arthur has been constantly fighting his conquests, leaving his new wife and knights in charge. With his unruly and violent knights left to their own devices and his distance from the throne, public outcry against him has been growing. Will you remain loyal to Arthur or subvert his rule?
Sir Gawain of Orkney (He/They)
“Sir Gawain was a very fine knight of great bearing and was very loyal toward his lord all the days of his life. He was neither spiteful nor jealous; on the contrary, he was more courteous than any knight at the court.”
The beloved nephew and heir to King Arthur, as well as Camelot’s greatest knight... at least until your arrival. Despite this, Gawain has already become your greatest advocate in Camelot and feels a kinship with you. Gawain is a popular knight at court, being fun-loving, brave, loyal, and charming, there is no greater knight to quest with. He is a formidable foe though, who is violently loyal to his friends and especially his siblings. Will your close bond grow stronger, or will fate force you against him?
King Galehaut of Far Isles (He/Him) (M/NB Exclusive)
“My lord I have seen Galehaut. He is a good half-foot taller than any other knight known, is better loved by his people than any other lord in the world, and has conquered more than anyone else of his age.”
King Arthur’s most recent enemy, and certainly his most challenging. Galehaut is a half-giant king of a distant land, and so quickly he has already conquered so much of Arthur’s land. A popular and powerful half-giant, Galehaut genuinely wants what’s best for Britain. He seems impressed by you though and willing to hear you out as you plead for Arthur. Can you be what is needed to solve this war, and maybe build a relationship with this powerful half-giant?
Queen Morgan Le Fay of Avalon (She/Her) (F/NB Exclusive)
“By the might of Morgan Le Fay that in my mansion dwelleth, And by Cunning of lore and crafts well learned. The magic arts of Merlin she many hath mastered... And Morgan the Goddess is therefore now her name.”
The King’s half-sister and the Queen of Avalon. You can never quite tell what her relationship with the king is, going from his most trusted confidant to his greatest foe, seemingly on a whim. In spite of being born mostly human, Morgan le Fay has embraced the ways of the fair folk, and especially enjoys messing with her brother’s knights. You seem to be a favorite of hers to torment and kidnap. Can these bizarre meetings create a deeper connection between you to, or are you doomed to torment?
Sir Agravaine of Orkney (F/M Gender Selectable)
“Agravaine was without pity or love and had no good qualities, save for his beauty, his chivalry, and his quick tongue.”
The eldest of Gawain’s younger siblings and certainly one of the least liked knights at court. Agravaine may be beautiful and clever, but their pride and bitterness often get in the way of their attempts at knightlihood. In spite of this, they deeply love their siblings… except Gaheris for some reason. And even though you’ve just arrived at court, they’ve already decided they hate you in particular. Can you find a way through their angry and cruel exterior?
Mage Sybil of Far Isles (They/Them)
“She knew nothing of envy or hate, and from her rosy lips came never an evil word. One never saw her ill-tempered, but she always passed her days in pleasant joy.”
You childhood friend during your life in the lake. Sybil is the child of one of your mother’s fairy companions who has known you your whole life. They have been a bright spot in your blue days and have been your partner in crime on many questionable adventures. You thought you would never see them again when they left for their home in the Far Isles, but they have recently taken a mentorship with Morgan le Fay. Will you be able to rekindle your friendship or even build it into something more? And how do you explain to them that kidnapping is not a fun game for you, no matter what Morgan says?

Guinevere and Morgan
Morgan and Sybil
Gawain and Galehaut
Other Major Characters
Lady Vivian du Lac (She/Her) - The Lady of the Lake in Gaul and your adoptive mother. While her means of “adopting” you were certainly sketchy, she has been nothing but a loving and indulgent parent to you. While she has let you go out on your own, that doesn’t mean she won’t give you aid on your quests when you need it. Now if only she would stop sending her companions to check on you.
Lady Nimue of the Lake (She/Her) - The Lady of the Lake in Britain and the king’s new advisor. No one talks about what happened to Merlin, the kings old advisor, but everyone whispers that Nimue had something to due with his disappearance. She seems to know of your fate, but has yet to make a move for or against you. She is waiting to see who you become.
Sir Mordred of Orkney (He/Him) - The youngest of the Orkney siblings and Gawain and Agravaine’s favorite. Younger than Gawain by 15 years, Mordred comes to Camelot and becomes your squire after you’ve long been a knight. A sweet and talented kid, you two will soon learn the truth of their past. Will you try to help Mordred or abandon them to their fate?
Sir Galahad of Corbenic (F/M/NB Gender Selectable) - A youth who arrives in Camelot long after you have settled in, only a year after Mordred’s arrival. This child feels familiar to you, though you don’t yet know why. Will you be able to build a relationship with the child you never knew you had, and can you save Galahad from their fate?
Sir Percival La Sauvage (She/They) - A Fair Unknown who arrives in Camelot the same time as Mordred. She is a hopeful, if rather naive, knight who merely wishes to be the best knight they can. She is eager to learn from you and hopes to follow in your stead. Will you be a worthy mentor or will your paths diverge?
Sometimes your dreams are not of destruction. Sometimes you dream of a man. You cannot get a grasp on this man. His form changes so frequently. Often he is bearded and old, with long white hair. Other times the hair stays, but his face is now young and beautiful, with his soft features clean-shaven. Another form is more unsettling, horned and twisted and demonic. Sometimes his form is almost impossible to look at. Shining so bright he becomes blinding. His features blurring together and moving around.
No matter the form, he simply looks at you and laughs.
It was only a month ago you’d been able to get your bearings enough to question him.
“Who…who are you??”
He only laughed harder as he got closer. “Does Arthur truly talk about me so little these days? Has my sweet Nimue erased my presence as thoroughly as she did my memory?”
His laugh got louder, more manic. It was only your shock that kept you from trying to move away.
“Merlin?!”
At the sound of his name he stopped and began to look confused. Lost. His eyes became unfocused. Frantically he turned and glanced around until he saw you,
“You… I know you. I’ve seen you.”
Before you could ask him what he meant he was already fading.
You couldn’t speak as Merlin seemingly forgot your presence and muttered questions to himself, “I… I warned Arthur, yes? He needs to know about… about… what was it…?” You could hear his muttering getting frantic and distressed as he faded away.
You don’t dream of him as frequently after that night. When you do, his just laughs through your questions.
May the moon lanterns light your way in the end, hunter,
and may our threads cross again.

Cisgender m (he/him) | Demiromantic demisexual
Makai Heveths'vir : An elven archer and Asano’s travel companion of over a decade.
5’11", golden brown skin, shoulder length curly black hair, light brown eyes, thickset, stockier build with obvious muscle tone

Transgender m (he/him) | Alloromantic pansexual
Yezda Sunchild: A blind acolyte at the start of a very long journey.
5'5", dark bronze skin, shoulder-length curly dark brown hair often kept braided out of their face, green eyes, chubby build
