Preliminary sketches for Anna K’s #SomethingBoldSomethingBlueBridal - inspired by the fabrics! It doesn’t always work that way; Sometimes the design dictates what fabrics can be used. You’ve got to start somewhere though and since sustainability was a core value for this client - an Assemblywoman dedicated to all things sustainable and just, and is also the co-sponsor of New York’s Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act - designing through inspiration from high quality sustainably sourced fabrics was my priority! Presenting design concepts to a Custom Fashion Client via fashion illustrations is a visual communication tool I use as a Fashion Designer to gather information and to have important conversations. Anna knew she wanted a supportive bodice with a deep neckline and wide crisscrossed straps. Through these sketches we began dreaming up another design which incorporated elements of the first two sketches which is what I based my initial Prototype on - that’s the next step!
