Can we talk about the fatphobia in the wedding industry?! We went to a supposedly size inclusive boutique. Turns out that means up to size 10. And they griped about having to create a tux for one of the groomsmen who is bigger. The associate suggested I try losing weight before trying to plan a wedding. It was an entirely humiliating experience and tbh did make me get some cold feet because my fiance is perfect and this lady killed my self esteem.

I proposed to my fiance back in February, and once I started looking for wedding inspiration, I couldn't find a ton of wedding related things featuring fat brides, or fat couples. So I've decided to take things into my own hands and start this blog. Calling All Fat Brides

God It's been forever since I've posted. My life has gotten complicated in my last year of school. I'm working two jobs, going to school full time, am Vice President of an organization, and am getting ready to graduate and start the next chapter of my life. I've had some mental health issues this year and I'm working on taking care of those issues....

But...

I'M ENGAGED!! :D I got engaged in January. My fiance and are are very happy, I love him so much, and I'm excited to be planning a wedding.

In conjunction with my engagement, I'm doing a research project on being a fat bride for my last Women Studies course of my college career. 

So... Calling all FAT BRIDES!! Those who are engaged, who are thinking about their weddings, or who have already gotten married. Those who identify as straight or as lgbtq. Those from all backgrounds. 

What does it mean to be a fat bride? What does it mean to defy traditional gender performances that dictate that one must lose weight before her wedding? In what ways are fat brides oppressed and ostracized from bridal culture?
