I tried hiding part of this entry because it is rather gross, but apparently tumblr doesn't allow that anymore. Anyway, since I am keeping my blog completely honest about my post-gastric bypass experience so those who want to read it can, if not, feel free to scroll on. Last Friday I went to the doc because I have been feeling overly nauseous and completely constipated. Nothing was working, I tried enemas, stool softeners, laxatives, gas-x and all I would be extremely bad cramps to the point where I wanted to throw up and cry at the same time. My doctor said to try two more enemas, hold the solution in as long as possible, preferably about twenty minutes and then do it all over again. If this didn’t work I would have to go to the ER because I had fecal impaction and they would have to manually clear my bum. I tried her suggestion, but only lasted about 30 seconds. I knew I had to go to the ER. I went and the doctor was sooooooooooooooo amazing, actually the entire staff I dealt with was. They were so kind. I kept apologizing and the doctor said it is actually quite common after gastric bypass because you are drinking so much protein that sometimes your body is unsure of how to process it all. She took care of me. I am not going to lie, it hurt almost as bad as the pain the day of surgery, but I was feeling 100% better within 10 minutes of her finishing up. I had to go home and do another enema and this time it produced the expected results. I am still having a little trouble with constipation, but I am switching back to Bariatric Advantage for my protein shakes as they are water based rather than milk protein concentrate like Premier Protein is. While I love the Premier drinks, my doctor is concerned that I am having trouble processing dairy at this point so in order to avoid another trip to the ER, I am taking it easy with foods I am unsure about. Other than this, I am having great results from my surgery and learning how to eat only three times a day, rather than snacking when I am bored is freakin wonderful!!!
