 RESERVATIONS: 222 017 198 The  Taberna do Cais das Pedras is my favourite place to go out for dinner with friends. Of course if you are with friends you want good wine, good beer and good Tapas. For me tapas means noise, happiness & friends, which is exactly the combination that you will find in this awesome restaurant. It is located in a privileged area by the river which adds value to this place. The owner of the place is Isabel who brings lots of life to this small and busy restaurant. She was also the owner and the founder of the Taberna do barqueiro, a small restaurant with only 4 tables located in the heart of Oporto but the success of the place demanded something bigger. This cosy and welcoming place was the perfect answer for the demand and now it is always full of customers.

About the food, the Tapas are 100% Portuguese, Portuguese products, cooking methods and traditional plates. Some examples are, the ‘Pataniscas’, Portuguese goat cheese, ‘alheira’ and ‘Chouriço’ (Portuguese sausages), clams Portuguese style, ‘Moelas’, wild mushrooms and so many small and unique dishes. The prices vary from 1,5 to 7€ for the tapas and the wine is also very accessible with a great selection. Check the FADO nights on all wednesday's of the year! Go there and you will become a fan… I can bet you will.

BUFETE FASE

Is it the BEST francesinha of Porto? Tell me what you think …

RESERVATIONS: 22 205 2118                 Francesinha is one of the most traditional dishes from Porto and the discussion about what is the best one could take hours or days. I decided to talk about BUFETE FASE because it is a unique spot full of tradition and to respect the tradition they keep the structure of the business always small, just to maintain the awesome quality of the food.                 Around 30 years ago José Menezes Pinto opened the Bufete Fase, a small place that specialised in traditional hot dog’s, “Prego’s” (steak with bread) and Francesinhas. It quickly became very famous for its francesinhas and now it is the only dish they offer and they have their hands full all the time.

                One of the special things about this restaurant is that it only had 4 small tables that could fit 8 to a maximum of 9 what made this spot special and exclusive. Only a few people could eat these awesome francesinhas in one day. Recently they expanded and they have now 12 tables and they can fit 48pax at the same time in the restaurant.                 They do not make reservations so you should go early.                 The price for a francesinha with fries and a cold draught beer is 11,50€, reasonable price for the Best in the city. Go and try it!!!

MUNCHIE

THE BEST BURGERS IN OPORTO! NO RESERVATIONS                 MUNCHIE burger kitchen is the answer for the new burger trend with a huge demand in the city and World. If you go to Munchie today it will be full of clients and it has been like that since the day it opened. The burger trend came alive again but this time in no longer a fast-food industry, now it’s all about good products, good presentation, good flavours and tradition.

                Pedro Bessa (on the left) is one of the owners and the head chef of this burger kitchen. He is a talented entrepreneur who made this awesome project one of the most successful spots in Porto! One of the best commercial ideas that he had was to create a menu with 7 different burgers, each named after the 7 deadly sins. Check out your deadly sin…

                The restaurant is located in the Rua de Ceuta, the heart of Oporto and where all the young people meet before they go out. You can have an awesome burger with some beers and chill with friends until 2am, every day. We were used to link burgers to kids but in Munchie we have all different ages and segments, from families to couples, from business men to students.In short, it’s a place where food is the element that brings everyone together.                 The average price is 8€ for a menu of a burger, potatoes and a drink. You can add a desert for 2€.                 The restaurant has 3 different areas, outside area with 6 tables, a small yard with 4 tables and one counter and there is a new place room in the back with around 15 more tables. Do you think these 25-30 tables are enough? They could double the number of tables and they would still be full… that’s MUNCHIE success.

PORTAROSSA

Portarossa is more than just an Italian restaurant, it’s THE Italian restaurant!

RESERVATIONS:  [phone]                         Hidden in the most beautiful zone of Oporto, the magnificent Portarossa. It opened its doors in 2013 and has enjoyed success ever since. The owners of Terra (posted on this blog) bought the property as an old but very pleasant restaurant and transformed it into an awesome project with delicious Italians delicatessens.

The space and ambience are very familiar and diverse. It is a perfect place to take your girlfriend/boyfriend, friends or family to experience something very enjoyable. The space is divided into an outdoor zone with around 10 tables, which is a very pleasant area ( the only problem reported by some friends are the chairs that are not so comfortable).The interior décor is modern Italian, very cosy and familiar.                Let’s move to the part that we all love … FOOD! These are pure Italian products that are used to create perfect Italian dishes. I should also say that they have a very good Italian-Portuguese wine selection and a perfect (one of my passions) ice-cold draught super-bock beer.       

A big and delicious bruschetta with salami and quail eggs.          

      Traditional Arancini, a deep-fried rice ball with cheese. 

          This is a combination of a traditional dish from Oporto, “Francesinha” that is made of meat and sausage toast with a beer and tomato sauce (may sound strange but its awesome…and FAT). In this occasion, instead of using bread, they use pizza dough to make a calzone and we pour the sauce on the top … EXPLENDID!                A meal can cost around 15-30€ and it is a guaranteed good choice for a business lunch, a family dinner, a sangria in summer. Go and try it!

PHILLY STUFFED MUSHROOMS

Delicious stuffed mushrooms, an easy and fast starter that will amaze your guests!

Ingredients (10 mushrooms) 10         Portobello mushrooms 150gr   Philadelphia/cream cheese 50gr    Mayonnaise 50gr    Parmesan cheese 50gr    Melted butter 30gr    Minced onion 10gr    Minced parley Ground pepper for taste

  METHOD (Turn on the oven to 200ºC) 1 Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems 2 Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. 3 Stuff the mushrooms with the mixture and brush them with the melted butter. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on the top and put it to the oven. 4 Bake it for 20-25 minutes, check if they get brown on the top and they are ready to EAT! 5 Enjoy!

KANPAI FUSION SUSH

For Sushi lovers! Kanpai it’s an exclusive and exquisite sushibar!

Kanpai Sushi Fusion is the name of this sushi restaurant that was born approximately two years ago on one of the main arteries of Porto, Avenida da Boavista.

The restaurant is so inviting, dark walls and white tables that make all clients to devote all their attention to what is served. Pure delicacies!

The sushi is really good, being in the top 5 of Porto. When referring to Fusion Sushi, sushi connoisseurs really expect an evolution of flavors, unexpected ingredients, sauces and garnish and completely innovative methods of cooking and preparation. The sushi offered by Kanpai is undoubtedly good but my expectation was to have more fusion, more innovation.

I've been in the restaurant 4 times and the service was good, I liked the food (always the same entry - fried shrimp and/or sweet and sour chicken satay) and I usually order the menu - festival sushi priced at € 22.90 where you can order any dishes. The Kanpai Fusion SUSHI was a success, but they needed more, they needed an expansion!  The answer to this need was the Kanpai Douro Marina.

 About 2 years ago, Gustavo (GU) and Susana (SU) got together to create an interesting and delicious project. The project is simple but strong and with proven success, Gustavo prepares wonderful sushi and Susana takes care of all the management, the calls, the deliveries, all the clients and the media.

Thanks to them I didn’t leave home to eat sushi for a long time. The sushi is excellent, the fish and all products are super fresh, well made and the variety and creativity is unique, I can risk talking about fusion sushi. One of the reasons why I am a loyal customer of  GUSHI SUSHI is because I always have the chance to try different sushi, with different sauces or even fish that are not traditionally used, but which result in perfection. 
It was through them that I first tasted sushi with meat, which can be controversial … but it works very well!

Regarding the price is very affordable and competitive, 32 pieces for 20€ (2€ delivery fee).

Not only because of the regard I have for both of them, I am a pure sushi lover and I love their sushi! I take this opportunity to give my Congratulations and thank them for giving life and flavour to the world of gastronomy!
