FE Engage would be a lot more fun if it was actually self-aware and whimsical rather than just kind of hollow and ineptly self-serious (story-wise, gameplay-wise it's quite solid).
Like the basic premise of the story is that the player character awakens as the dragon god blorbo of three out of the world's four richest families whose kids have all been nursing a parasocial relationship with your sleeping beauty glass coffin situationed self for multiple generations. You are basically the plastic skull on the mantelpiece that they've been dumping their troubles and woes and hopes and dreams onto ever since they were old enough for formal religious indoctrination to start.
That is, objectively, a hilarious position to be in. The first fuck up this story makes is having Alear not remember or retain an awareness of any specifics beyond a vague sense of familiarity. They should have gone in the opposite direction -- Alear wakes up with all the deep lore on the royal heirs of three different kingdoms AND THEIR PARENTS (who did this too) stuck in their head despite not even recollecting their own past because they were basically a coma patient absorbing this information and translating it to themselves via dreams for the past thousand years. Alear doesn't know who they are or what the date is but they know that Timerra once stole and ate an entire banquet spread and blamed it on the dogs. The game could have had a book of character cheat lore information and with every other companion and emblem you have to build that shit up gradually through supports/bonds, but with the royal families it's just entirely filled out with special embarrassing bonus details from go. This should combine terribly with Alear's general lack of worldliness into moments like The Divine Dragon curiously asking if Diamant's dad ever resolved that whole bedwetting situation to his satisfaction because he never told them and he seemed so upset about it at the time (he was seven).
Like imagine if your entire family and most of your biggest political rivals/allies shared a diary that came to life and was Dragon Jesus and was also kind of stupid & very tactless. Remarkable comedic potential that's totally wasted on the actual game.
loving hands, heavy hands @aaronieros
forgot to post Character design that still doesn't have a fullbody. He's a dragon for FE: Engage (but he can't actually shift anymore so he's just stuck as some guy :3c)

Been thinking about Fire Emblem: Engage and which others of the four nations Zephia could have gotten her hands on.
I think in-universe Elusia got picked because they had Destinea Cathedral which is sacred to Sombron(?) but can you imagine how that would affect the other royals?
Solm Sibbies as Fell Dragon... I don't think adherents is the right phrase, because neither of them are particularly faithful, but as your enemies is genuinely terrifying. They WILL lie, they WILL do terrible things to accomplish their goals, they've already got their ruler/second dynamic down despite some personal issues, and if "for the good of their own people" expands to "at everyone else's expense"... oh god. That said, while the whole "personal freedom" thing lends itself well to letting the Fell Dragon cult get a foothold, because why not let people pray to Sombron if it's not hurting anything, I think they're the most likely to go into an alliance with the Fell with their eyes open and having weighed the costs, and so would be the most likely to let themselves be talked down. I also don't think there would be a lot of difference in how Timerra and Fogado would individually react to the situation, because faith just isn't a priority for them. That doesn't make them less frightening as enemies. (Smiles and compliments you the whole time they're kicking your ass is my favorite kind of antagonist btw.)
Firene, the Kingdom of Faith... I def think this would be Zephia deliberately fucking with Lumera by stealing her most faithful kingdom out from under her. Eve definitely would not be okay with the Fell Dragon worshipers moving in, but sovereign blood is a necessary component of the ritual, so... and Alfred would also be relatively easy to kick into a relapse by magic or poison, and Celine sees herself as enough of the do-what's-necessary type that she might be convinced that the Fell Dragon believers aren't doing any harm. If she was suddenly acting queen she might start to rely on the Four Hounds for help with nobody else to restrain her--Louis and Chloe wouldn't like it, but they probably wouldn't outright break with her over it either. She's also going to stick to her metaphorical guns a lot harder than the Solm sibbies, because she's not going to want to believe that she unintentionally got her family hurt or killed! (Do I have this one written up already? Maybe.)
Brodia is interesting because while they're already pushing aggression against Elusia and Firene as a nation, Diamant specifically is already trying to push back against it. Out of all the royals, he's the most likely to immediately get into it with his dad over whether or not the Fell Dragon being there is a good thing, and possibly even start trying to push them out either politically or by actual force. Alcryst is also interesting because I think he's the most likely of the royals to find the Fell faith resonates with him personally. (Note, I didn't say it would be healthy, but suffering as an offering to Sombron would probably match well with his self-loathing in some ways that are truly horrifying from outside.) That, more than anything else, is likely to keep Diamant from actually raising his banner against Morion and/or Zephia
In any of these cases, there's like a 50% chance that Ivy is in the room when Alear wakes up and it's the highlight of her entire life. Hortenisa started writing Clanne and Framme after like the fourth time she came with Ivy and now they've basically been taking classes at the sorcery school by correspondence for over a year
