Feast Festival Review - The Dykeside Two Left

The Dykeside is back in Adelaide and they are down to two comedians. The originals, Lori Bell and Bobby Macumber are quick to highlight the development of the show and the adjustment to the lineup as part of their comedy set. Bell is a regular to the Adelaide comedy stage and knows how to interact with the local audience with quick wit and local knowledge. The adaptation of her comedy style for the Feast audience came across naturally with a homely feel to her work on show. Macumber matches Bell’s style on stage and balances out the dryness in some of the shows overall work with a fun, over the top and energetic personality. Feast Festival Review: Finding Me Volume Three

Finding Me Volume Three is the final, or book end, version of the Finding Me trilogy of 2018. The show has been in evolution since the Adelaide Fringe and has adapted according to the audience that they are about to present in front of. The final 2018 version of the show features as part of the Feast Festival at Raj House. The story of the cabaret follows a group session with four unique characters all presenting what they’re struggling through to the audience. Their struggles are loaded with stories to the crowd and with a talented musical ensemble backing up their histories with the slow pace, string based, cabaret background. Feast Festival Review: The Dykeside

The Dykeside features at the 2017 Feast Festival following sell out shows across the country, including in Melbourne and Canberra. The comedy show stars three comedians, Lori Bell from Adelaide, and Bobby Macumber and Selina Jenkins from Melbourne, and works together a two hours show of individual stories, song, and casual banter. Each of the comedians present a different style and pace to their own jokes that offers a variety of comedy elements to suit a much wider audience than possible as a standalone comedian. Tom Christophersen’s Business Unfinished is an anthology of ghost stories that blend together spoken word responses from people who share their experiences with the supernatural, the scepticism around them, and Christophersen’s personal curiosity with the topic.

We are welcomed into the performance space of Basem3nt by Christophersen almost completely covered by a black, draped tent with just his resting face exposed. Once the show takes off he uses slow movements to tease his own reveal and introduce the audience to the larger production, which takes places on a floor level stage set up that is covered in props and background memorabilia reflecting both the actor and the stories contained in the work.
