hello hello! i just have a question- i was considering apping my original character (the one featured on this blog, though i wouldnt be using said blog!) here, and i was wondering whether or not you guys accepted fandom ocs. ebene was designed as a RWBY oc with no ties to any canon characters, so no worries about that! though if you'd rather not, i understand! i just wanted to know whether or not i need to cut the RWBY references from her background to app. ^0^

This is completely fine! There’s no need to remove any RWBY references from their background as long as it does not interfere with the canon story. There’s a few things we’d like to clear up right away as well, since we figured they’d be connected to this question and apping fandom OCs in general!
They will be listed as an original character on the /taken page. That’s what they are, after all!
We ask there are no ties to canon characters and the OC does not interfere with the canon story, to avoid confusion for people who app said canon characters. You’ve already established you don’t have any though, so you’re fine!
Here comes my lack of RWBY knowledge shining through: if the canon characters are considered famous, it’s okay for the OC to have heard about them. If they’re just “ordinary people”, the OC obviously can’t have heard about them.
We ask that you assume that any possible canon characters do not know your OC as someone from their world or even recognize you. However! It is completely fine to ask the mun about a possible established relationship or being acquaintances through something! We only ask that you accept it if you’re told that no, the canon character does not know your OC yet.
So, essentially, basic RP etiquette applies, really. It’s okay to ask the mun about the canon character and the OC knowing eachother, but don’t expect it to already be so without asking or having received a ‘yes’!
I know this wasn’t what you initially asked, but this felt like a good opportunity to provide this information for both you and anybody else considering apping a fandom OC.
