I’m drawing a little Fenris comic in my art book and these are the only two parts so far to be inked (there’s like six pages and I am not actually looking forward to this what did I get myself into) Anyway, I thought some people might enjoy a few poor quality sketches of the feathermage and Mr. anti-dwarf~

Discussing Anders Death

[During a DA chat on Discord]

Friend: I really like your anders He looks... angular, I think the word is Really got that desperate sewer apostate look down

Self: Thanks! That is definitely the look I was going for~ I dunno, I played Origins and Awakening and I still remember when he was all witty and sweet and just happy to be alive to 'breathe the free air'. I remember finding Justice and helping him learn about Kristoff and listen to him talk to Nathaniel about his future. Then I see what's become of them in DA2 and it always just breaks my heart a little, because I knew them, so to say. When I see Anders in DA2 I can't think of him as more than a shadow of who he was. I see his desperation and his malnourishment, his tired eyes and his scruffy appearance and I miss that bright spark in his eye and that attention and care he used to have for himself. So I try and capture that when I draw him. It seems only appropriate that the full impact of his life be reflected, I think the softer depictions on his appearance are lovely, but I don't feel they're accurate. The exception to that detail though, is if he's gotten into a romance with Hawke (or a complete friendship) because I feel like it would not only make him happier and more full of life, but that he would also spend more time with Hawke and gain a little colour and fullness back to his cheeks from the times Leandra had him stay for dinner~ And I can also see most Hawkes telling him to get in a damn bath (mostly jokingly) and him actually bothering with more than two seconds on his appearance once he feels all squeaky clean again, lol

Friend: I love this perfectly poetical summary of his character. I miss justice a lot tbh It would have been so fun to see him as a separate character Or maybe,  if we're going to angst route, justice in anders body but anders died from his wounds when they joined, so it's just justice in there .... or the current situation, just switched. With anders only coming out at rare, emotional moments.

Self: Oh god, you- The first thought that came to mind when you mentioned Justice taking over Anders corpse is THE ENDING OF DA2 AND THAT WAS SUCH A PAINFUL THOUGHT. ImeanImean- Just imagine, Anders laying there on the dirty Lowtown street, the only sounds are the distant screams and wails of the people subjected to his chaos. Then, blue lines start to slowly trail up his still face and over his cold fingers. Then he opens his eyes and all you see is blue light before they start to look so sad, because now it's just him and his friend is gone. So, I'm listening to a song called Saturn by Sleeping at Last, and I'm- It's so perfect for what I just wrote down - from Justice's pov.

Friend: YOU TAKE THAT BACK

Self: I'LL NEVER TAKE IT BACK ♥

Friend: It's so sad I love it. Especially as my current Hawke killed him out of like... a weird sense of obligation? She felt like she had to but she loved him as a brother and to have him STAND BACK UP That would kill her

Self: Ahhh ;A; but it wouldn't be him standing back up AND THAT MAKES IT SO MUCH WORSE

Normally, I'm firmly on Team 'Let Anders Be Happy', but sad Anders came out of my pencil. Sorry, Anders. Also, this was supposed to be for inktober, but then I started shading and said 'fuck that'.
