Lost Odyssey was out today in America in 2008. The story follows Kaim, an immortal who has lost his memories that prove painful.

Lost Odyssey: 1 Hour Thoughts... A Whole Lot of Final Fantasy VIII (and I love it)

I'm about 1 hour into Lost Odyssey and hot damn am I getting Final Fantasy VIII vibes.

You play as a mercenary with memory problems named Squall Kaim who is reserved and a badass. Kaim has weird dream sequences. Kaim's ring system is pretty neat

You meet a spunky, and very scary, woman named Selphie Seth, who also has memory problems.

Kaim and Seth are part of an elite group of warriors called SeeD Immortals.

You then meet a total flirt named Irvine Jansen, who is totally sus and isn't part of the elite group that Kaim and Seth are part of which means he doesn't have memory problems like they do. He's also the one to call out the memory problems.

As Jansen levels up he learns skills, however, this isn't the same for Kaim and Seth. They must be junctioned skill linked with a mortal in order to learn skills.

Oh, you think I forgot about the meteor? Yeah, that's some staple FF stuff (big rocks falling from the sky and whatever) but damn if it didn't look like the Lunar Cry.

So far the world is amazing. They just had a magical industrial revolution and it's like FF VIII, FF IX, and FF XII in that magic and technology is merged in a fantastical way. The vehicles are so weird.

The writing is a bit janky so far and there's some weird things (The reason they send Kaim on his first mission is a bit weird).

The game looks very 2007, the music is "hey isn't that FF music" / 10, and Kaim's movement is kinda janky.

The stylistic cinematics are amazing and even in battle they can be rather dynamic.

#lostodyssey is a #jrpg exclusive to the #xbox360 games console. It was developed by #mistwalker and #feelplus . It was published by #microsoftgamestudios . It was released in Japan in 2007 and to the rest of the world in 2008. This is considered by some to be one of the greatest #jrpgs on the platform. It is a 4 disc behemoth! This underrated game has the blessing of it's music being composed by the great #nobuouematsu of #finalfantasy fame. The games enjoyable story was also wrote by #hironobusakahuchi who is the creator of the #finalfantasyseries itself! This game had the pedigree, will and ambition! This was #xbox making a full on attempt at carving a slice of the pie. The story has the immortal #kaim with his memories lost. It is an age of war and dark magic. You will make friends, enemies and lovers in this old skool meets new gen JRPG. The good news is that it's still cheap and works on Xbox 360, #xboxone and #xboxseries consoles!
