theres just. really something to be said for the makeup of my choir. there's queer people and allies! Trans men, women, non binary people. Basically every racial demographic...

except black people.

and like. okay. the songs are chosen before the season, so we dont know whos going to join or leave us season to season when [artistic director] picks our music.

and you can say that, sure, weve had a fluctuating number of members from any given demographic in any given season.

but also. the solo in a change is gonna come is being sung by a (tbf Very talented) white woman. we've got a song this season from the apartheid resistance in South Africa. we have TWO MORE songs from the USAmerican civil rights movement.

and no black people.

so, yeah [board president]. I think we SHOULD drop "social justice" from our mission statement until we can figure out how to make this a space for more than just white queer people.
