Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria
Just another delicious taco in Nuevo Orleans
From the sweetness of the al pastor pork to the acidity of the pico de gallo and finally to the hot nectar of the flavorful queso, Felipe’s could do no wrong on this fine day. This reviewer went in with both eyes open, but by the end of this decadent and delicious meal, those formerly open eyes were nearly closed from the pleasure of the experience. In a city that boasts authentic Creole and Cajun cuisines, and rightfully so, visitors to Felipe’s Taqueria will soon find that the Crescent City has hidden gems scattered throughout its hallowed neighborhoods. To quote the food critic Anton Ego from Pixar’s Ratatouille, “Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.” Be sure to try some works of art at your local Felipe’s.

I've never met a taco I didn't like... until today
Felipe's has all the slime and messiness of a street taco without any of the charm. If you've ever wanted to pay the price of Chipotle for a lower quality meal this just might be your place. Although I had some misgivings about my colleague getting the first pick in this endeavor, I was proud to discover that all of my fears were well warranted. The tacos were like scraping together an oddly spiced soup in a flavorless tortilla. The shredded chicken tasted like it came out of a can and I cannot remember to this day whether I've actually ever eaten chicken out of a can. That still was the sense I was left with. This restaurant could singlehandedly undermine the capitalist agenda of Taco Tuesday and for that it should be applauded. (*One time I did have a bowl in person at Felipe's and it was really good*).
