“When the well was broken, many people were falling sick from diseases like typhoid.

There was a high mortality rate in the district from the water-related diseases but I can’t put a finger on how many kids (got sick).

Also, there were kids drowning from collecting water. Four drowned in one year. They fell into the ponds when they were fetching water. Three of them were females and one boy.

That’s when I decided to become a mechanic.

I'm using the revenue to look after my family and kids. Also, it helps with the hotel. So I use the income from the well to kickstart my hotel business. Secondary school, Primary school are now being paid for through the hotel business.

There was a weekend where a well broke down, and the people were kind of put down. But because I knew what to do, I was ready, and I solved the problem immediately, the people were happy again.

I feel empowered. I have the water, I have the money. There is peace.”

Let's face it - we're all of little sick of hearing about Covid. We're so blessed to live in a country where life has returned to normal so quickly, but that's not the case for most people.

In Kenya and Uganda, organizations like @Living Goods has incurred additional costs to maintain the same level of health care to children and families. This is why your support is so critical and appreciated! Mary and her daughter, Annet are just some of the people you're supporting:

"Covid has greatly impacted us, especially our earnings. My husband and I are farmers, but the prices of food were low we did not earn as much as we had anticipated.

I have a two year-old, Annet who is my youngest. She has had poor health in the last few months. Community Health Worker Harriet has been treating her and she has not charged me for the medicine"
