idk if anyone's ever thought abt this, and it only appeared in my head because shower thoughts are just like that
but like, in shadow generations, we know that one of shadow's levels are chaos island from sonic frontiers, a place he's never been to before
now why am i bringing this up? because shadow generations takes place at the same time as sonic generations. we know this because not only do shadow and rouge talk to each other in the beginning of shadow gens before sonic's surprise party, but we also get shadow's rival battle during the events of both games
in sonic gens we have the pleasure of whooping shadow's ass ourselves, while in shadow gens we get a cutscene of it
both games take place at the exact same time, we even see so on the official sonic timeline on the sonic website!
the game takes place post-sonic colors, and before sonic free riders and sonic lost world
what am i trying to get at here? well, this all proves that sonic x shadow generations doesn't just take place before sonic frontiers, but also before sonic forces
so not only is it weird that chaos island is in shadow's white space, it's ALSO weird that sunset heights is there since shadow, canonically hasn't lived through that yet
but he DOES later in the timeline
which leads me to believe that shadow will also, possibly, end up in chaos island somehow
