Watching Dr. Kathleen Kellett's videos makes me appreciate how hard Square Enix went in subverting stereotypical ideas about monstrosity. None of the bio-engineered characters had an inherently bad nature. Angeal couldn't accept himself. Genesis just wanted to survive. Sephiroth broke down after a lifetime of abuse and isolation. Like, this narrative really went "yeah, these guys were all engineered from biological material sourced from a planet-eating alien, but that's not actually what's wrong with them. It's the way they were treated that messed them up and put them in these horrible places."

My character, Dal Mei, from Crystal Chronicles.

I sketched him a while ago and wanted to give the sketch the full color treatment it deserved. Done in Inkscape with my mouse, I'd estimate about 20 hours of concerted effort.

Don't let his wistful ocarina playing and his pretty necklace fool you, he's a chaos gremlin and whatever the fantasy equivalent of a jock is. (For best viewing experience, put on "Leaving the Body Freely" from the OST)

OMG this is how my FFCC plate painted on ceramic looks after the baking and glazing steps! I'm relieved that the colors are actually vibrant after all aaaah.

Can't wait to have it in hands and use it for real. 8)

Chapter 1 Part 1 has finally been uploaded, I'll eventually go back and reupload it because a couple of the graphics pages are incomplete and there's a couple text-related things I'm not entirely happy with, I just really wanted to get this out.

Chapter 1 Part 2 coming eventually (it's already translated, it just needs to be edited), I'm going to be taking a break from this for a bit.
