The on campus coffee shop was a lifesaver for the young genius. She loved coffee, but more importantly, she loved it done specifically to her liking. Which was not hard. At all. She always ordered a black coffee, went over to the bar where you could add milk and cream, and put precisely ten packets of sugar into her coffee. It was even better if they had a sugar shaker instead of the packets, but most places didn’t. Probably due to people like Lily cleaning out their supply. She walked a fluid and graceful nature, her posture in a way that if someone placed a book on her head it would not fall, and she entered the coffee shop. Making her way to the back of the line, Lily waited patiently. She noticed plenty of people on smart phones, but that did not bother her at all. People were free to do what they pleased, embrace technology or refuse it. However, Lily found herself in the vast minority who did not own a smart phone. She had more than enough money for one, but she much preferred a classic flip phone. The black haired girl did not want to be tempted with the informational super highway right at her fingertips, and it was for her own good rather than anything. With her memory, anything she read Lily would recall for a good, long time. She did not want to read some of the things that went circulating around. She would find it in a newspaper, or on a television. She did not want her mind tainted with rumors and gossip, despite knowing that no source was truly unbiased. Lily also wanted her reasons, opinions and knowledge to come from her own observations and brain.
Eventually, she made her way to the counter and placed her order for a black coffee. While she waited, Lily took a book out of her bag, reading it intently until she heard her full name called. Taking her cup, she moved to the self service counter, and began pouring an obscene amount of sugar packets into her coffee. Just the way she liked it.
