Why- *sigh* Why are there tiddies in the 4th of July tag?

I swear Buffy's character is so boring and hypocrite, even Cordelia who is the whore of this show but she isn't hypocrite like her.

Buffy is far from boring. She’s dynamic, ever changing, lively, interesting - even if she annoys me sometimes, and is a bit hypocritical. I’ve called Buffy a hypocrite many times, so I may sound like a hypocrite myself for saying this, but aren’t we all a little hypocritical? And Buffy’s hypocrisy is nothing compared to Cordelia’s. 

More importantly though, how dare you call Cordelia, or any woman (fictional or real), a whore? Since Cordelia is not a sex worker, what does being a whore even mean? That you dislike her? That she has too much sex even though she barely has any? (Not that it would matter if she did.) That she’s rude and mean? Have you ever called Spike a whore? Does Cordelia show too much skin? Do you have an issue with seeing bare human legs? Does Cordelia’s interest in dating upset you? Because she wants to have a boyfriend like everyone else, or to be less lonely? Does Cordelia’s arrogance bother you? Have you ever called Angelus a whore? 

“Whore” is just another way of saying “I hate women”. It’s used so often against women that it doesn’t even have any meaning. And 9/10 times it’s used to judge women for things men are allowed to do freely - or for things like wearing a lot of makeup, revealing clothes, etc. because heaven forbid people wear and do what they want with their bodies without any harm to others!

So if Cordelia is a whore because she doesn’t live up to your narrow-minded view of a woman should be, or do, or say, that I’m also a whore - and very proud to be one!

How do we feel about the shipping comments?? I mean I feel like she was probably more referencing the media deciding who is and isn't good for her (loved Calvin, hated harry) and possibly hardcore k*ylors but I'm interested on your thoughts

She compared it to being in a dollhouse, people moving her around where they want her, making up their own storylines to fit their world better, or to fit their opinion of her better.  Make her more of who they think she is.  I think that goes for the media as well as the fans.   

From my own perspective, because I don’t know how it feels from Taylor’s, I feel like there are different kinds of shipping.  I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with harmless shipping.  It happens across every kind of media.  Books, movies, music, blogs like.,,,,,,,,,,,,literally everything.  People are always going to find the thought of two people being together interesting.  

It gets a bit messier when it involves real people.  This probably sounds like bullshit coming from me but I don’t really actively ship Harry and Taylor.  I obviously love the songs they’ve written about each other, but I also understand that they dated 7 years ago and are not currently pining over the other.  I try not to ship real people at all because it’s a slippery slope and it can become invasive and consuming.  Which we can easily see in this fandom, and the 1D fandom.  

It’s so important to remember that Taylor is a real person with real relationships and it’s not an act she’s putting on and performing for us.  With the media, referenced in the beginning of the rep tour, it was a constant “why’s she doing that when she used to do this, why is she hiding, why is she keeping her relationship so secretive this time?”  With some of her fans it’s calling Joe by something other than his name because they don’t like him.  It’s saying that Taylor and Karlie have been secretly dating for 5 years?????????????  It’s replaying blurry videos over and over trying to convince people that something might be happening.  It’s refusing to acknowledge her current relationship because you like her old relationship better.  It’s disrespectful and creepy and weird.  

So like there are different levels to shipping.  Rob Sheffield making a cheeky haylor reference while writing about Style, I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, and Two Ghosts is harmless imo.  Me talking about how the bridge in Out Of The Woods destroyed me………..harmless.  Laughing about matching nail polish….also harmless.  Trying to legitimately label Taylor’s (or anyone’s) sexuality because you think her current relationship is fake………..100% not okay and needs to stop.  She’s not a doll that you get to move around however you want.  Her personal life is not for our entertainment.  You can’t dress her up the way you see fit.  So if there really is a song comparing superstardom in the digital age to life in a dollhouse, I can’t wait to hear it.

It’s detrimental to neurotypicals, you say? 

The non-ableist response is “then they should stop using it”, not “then we should ban them and keep them from kids who need them”. 

That’s like banning prescription glasses for everyone because it’s harmful to the vision of kids with 20-20 vision, without any regard for the impact on the health, well-being, and quality of education it would have on people who need glasses.

They're not meant for kids with 20-20 eyesight any more than fidgets are meant for neurotypical kids.

i had a discussion with someone today, who

1. told me she absolutely loved discworld and terry pratchett

2. defended fox hunting (we were saying ‘chasse à courre’, so maybe hunting with dogs in general, but i specifically mentionned “the fox who never bothered anyone” several times) by saying “well the hunters don’t kill the animal themselves, they’re just having fun, and the dogs kill the animal and can eat it.” ok but the poor fox dies anyway. “no it can escape! there’s a chance it will escape, whereas when they hunt with guns…” okay but what if they just LEFT THE FOX ALONE. “yeah but the dogs can eat it.” (a fox? REALLY?)

lesbians are women who love other women, correct? so why in the name of fuck are there people who identify as “he/him” saying they are lesbians? i understand the use of lesbian if you use she and they pronouns, but if you identify as a man it makes no sense to use lesbian as your sexual orientation. for fuck’s sake people, open a dictionary or look up the definition online, i swear it’ll take less than two minutes
