Is it me or is the FFVII Revelation trailer deceptively light on plot compared to earlier trailers Where you can at least get the vibes of the story I wonder what they are planning? Because I honestly think they wouldn't do this if it was a 1:1 remake....

I’ve seen some people comment on Youtube about how Tifa is portrayed as a lot weaker in the FFVII remake than in the original game, that she’s “not as much of a badass as she was in the OG FFVII” because “Cloud saves her a lot” and “Aerith protects her a lot”. I’m just sitting here, scratching my head, wondering if these people maybe didn’t pay attention to all the times that Tifa saves Cloud and Aerith. Because there are quite a few. She saved Aerith from being killed by Eligor’s deadly beam (risking her own life), and she saved Cloud from falling to his death. She has saved Aerith on more than one or two occasions.

The fan version of Tifa is this badass girl who kicks ass at all times, DON’T NEED NO MAN, single-handedly saves and protects everyone, and also isn’t afraid of anything ever. The remake has humanized her much more. Actually shows what a gentle person she really is. That she’s actually kind and empathetic, that she feels guilty when her actions hurt other people (even if it’s for a good cause she believes in), and that although she is incredibly tough, she still has her doubts and fears. She can fight monsters, soldiers and mechs, but she’s afraid of ghosts. She can bomb a reactor, but she feels guilty for the people hurt in the process. In other words, she’s human. Not an anime robot, cardboard cut-out or waifu body pillow, as some people seem to think that she is.

It’s not black and white. One CAN be a badass and still have human emotions, needs, and fears. It’s relatable and compelling, and I don’t know about anyone else, but I for one love Tifa now more than ever.

Clerith deniers dominating FFVII fandom and trying to force Cloti down everyone’s throats are toxic as hell. Just because your ship can be perceived as “endgame” thanks to certain plot points and interpretations popularized by the Compilation dosen’t give you the right to unironically bully everyone into submission!

Not to mention denying the existence of a “love triangle” and downplaying every single indication that Aerith might have wanted to love the real Cloud but couldn’t because of her death in favor of a “two people in love, one woman projects her dead ex onto one of the people in love, thankfully she dies” and trying to force this view on the fandom robs the story and the gaming industry of one of it’s greatest tragedies.

The story was always up for interpretation but outright denying parts of the FFVII story that flow stronger when viewed as a “love that could mever be….destroyed by a hatred that always was” weakens parts of the narrative and admittly dosen’t even mesh with Cloud’s guilt post gaining his memories back

I get why some people might think that she can be “annoying” at times, but I personally don’t mind that about her. She’s so cheerful and adorable?? Imagine hating best girl.”

I can get finding her annoying, some people don't like outgoing people and find them too "invasive" of their personal space, which is fair enough. I’m an introvert myself, and I get it. Aerith takes charge a lot and keeps people on their toes, even Elmyra calls her "a handful". She doesn’t hold anything back and can be very blunt. But HATING her is in my opinion unjustified. Reflects the person more than the character imo. Some people just loathe people and fictional characters who are positive and happy, and the reason is because they themselves feel that the world is a dark place, and in their eyes, anyone who is optimistic is either faking it or lying to themselves. I know some people like that. There is a saying that goes “Hurt people hurt people”. A happy person who’s in a good place in life and secure in themselves don’t feel the need to attack or wish death on someone else. I’ll get off my soapbox now, but I hope that that explains it at least a little? It’s how I see it anyway.
