Malik and Jamie were roommates when the world ended. Now separated by half the country, literal acid rain, werewolves, aliens, and more, they start a chat podcast to stay in touch and work through the increasing uncertainty of their new apocalyptic reality. Each episode, Malik & Jamie will tackle topics like: should I change my office hours to accommodate vampire students? What if the body snatcher that took over my ex is nice? When did the kudzu start humming like that? Malik & Jamie will try to help!

A podcast within a podcast about the end of the world. The two hosts banter about the various (and numerous!) paranormal and existential crises taking place. Some are framed as listener questions, some general musings. It's swiftly paced and funny, tackling familiar horror tropes from new and sometimes silly angles, but it IS still the apocalypse. Jamie and Malik frequently check in with each other more earnestly, touching on themes of trauma and coping. I have not listened far enough to know if there's a genuine overplot, but there's plenty of emotional continuity.

Perfect if you're looking for something funny and irreverent, but also threaded with genuine sincerity and catharsis.

Janus Descending

ANUS DESCENDING is limited series, science fiction/horror audio drama podcast, follows the arrival of two xenoarcheologists on a small world orbiting a binary star. But what starts off as an expedition to survey the planet and the remains of a lost alien civilization, turns into a monstrous game of cat and mouse, as the two scientists are left to face the creatures that killed the planet in the first place. Told from two alternating perspectives, Janus Descending is an experience of crossing timelines, as one character describes the nightmare from end to beginning, and the other, from beginning to the end.

Has the unique premise of telling its story chronologically and reverse-chronologically at the same time. It bounces back and forth between two POV characters, presented in different orders, to tell the story of a space mission on an alien planet gone wrong. There's also a sequel series, Descendants, on the same Spotify feed.

Perfect for scifi fans interested in non-linear stories.
