for my ehno story I feel like at least part of the first chapter would make sense from Auberon’s perspective but sometimes I don’t like reading fics that switch around what do you guys think.

I read a lot of fanfic (no surprise there), and I'm starting to notice that lately, a lot of fics sound very similar. There are no descriptions of environments, no transitions between scenes, just sparse declarative sentences, briefly states actions, no dialogue tags or characters performing actions during dialogue, just lots of snappy back-and-forth and metaphors so edgy they make my eyes bleed (something along these lines, actually).

Basically, lots of short sentences in quick succession with barely one or two paragraphs per 10K words.

Is this some trend I'm missing? Is it AI? Are all these people using Claude? Or can't people comprehend a more elaborate chunk of text anymore?

What's going on? Does anyone know?
