THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE AND WE HAVE UNCOVERED IT
Is there a way to calculate how many yards of fabric you need based on measurements? I'm making a gym uniform (from my hero academia) for myself and 2 of my friends and I was wondering if there was something that could help me out when buying fabric. Thanks!
If you’re working from a commercial pattern it should have a guide on the back of the pattern that instructs you on how much fabric you’ll need to buy. You can also reference these if you’re creating something similar and want a rough idea of how much fabric to buy.
If you’re drafting your own pattern it is possible to calculate it. However it is a a a bit more complicated because the amount of fabric you need will also depend on the width of the fabric and how you plan to lay it out.
What I would suggest is to draft your pattern on paper or digitally. Make a list of your pieces, their measurements at their largest point. and make a note about how they will be positioned on the fabric. Some pieces may need to be cut on a fold, some may need to be positioned based on the fabric’s pattern, some pieces may need to be positioned in relation to the fabric’s grain.
I’m a visual person so from there I would do a scaled-down sketch of the fabric on some graph paper. Then I’d sketch in the scaled-down patterns based on their widest points. If I had trouble with the positioning I might cut-out the scaled-down pattern pieces and play with their positions. If you work digitally, then you can scale down copies your pattern pieces and maneuver their positions on a new canvas. Then, when you have them all positioned well, you can calculate how much fabric they would require at full-size.
If you’re looking for something less-exact, I usually buy fabric based on what looks right and add a bit more. I guesstimate by comparing my height to the fabric. This works well for most simple garments but wouldn’t be as useful for ballgowns or anything that has extra fabric involved such as pleats.
Hope this helps!—Duckie / Admin
I was wondering if anyone had any any experience with eds effecting their stomach? Recently I've been feeling really sick after every meal and I was wondering if that's a symptom of eds. Feel free to message me with your experiences if you feel comfortable! Thanks!
Definitely! There’s of EDS related things that can cause a lot of issues with stomaches, Gastroparesis, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome off the top of my head, however there are many more potential things if followers would like to help out?
Tuafw you can never really get diagnosed bc of the fear the you don't be able to transition so you just have to Suffer™ -🐧 (penguin asks)

toshi: RIGHT YEAH THEM TOO!!! dude like you said there’s a BAJILLION”
Tuafw you have a newish SpIn that flares up again and all you wanna do is watch the show a billion times and read things about it and draw the characters but you can't get your (suspected) autistic sibling or anyone else in the family to watch it because "isn't that for kids since it's animated?" -🐧
