Gendo Ikari is my number one unforgivable douchebag. You cannot humanize that asshole for me. Likewise, Gabriel Agreste. He's a fairly interesting character, but Adrien never needs to forgive him ever.
I'm trying to think of other fictional parents who can go to hell but none are coming to mind at this moment. I will say that every time a piece of media touts itself as being about the "complicated relationship between mothers and daughters", I steer the fuck away. I resent the implication that women possess some innate inability to be normal towards their female children that must be explored. It's not a universal truth. It's normalizing being a bad parent and also probably a weird expression of gender essentialism.
Not to say stories with complicated mother/daughter relationships aren't good. Everything, Everywhere, All At Once did an excellent job with it. It's how it's framed more than anything else. I cannot stand when shit parents get romanticized.
