Virgo Vs the Zodiac is a sci-fi/fantasy JRPG where you play as an obsessed villain in a Astrology-based universe. The game features traditional turn based combat with a twist: Guarding, countering and timing your actions carefully as well as predicting your foes' moves is essential to succeed in Virgo’s twisted and unforgiving cosmic quest to bring back the Golden Age, a period of peace, symmetry and balance, or so she thinks.
In this galaxy where every action means a reaction, you’ll play as Virgo, the Holy Queen, or so-called Dreadful Queen by heretics, bringing mayhem to the Zodiac Realms and leaving a trail of stardust on your way, all to fit her excessively righteous worldview.
Join us on Virgo Vs The Zodiac Discord!!
Shield-based counter-attack system, in which all conflicts are lethal unless you protect yourself, countering foes in the process with a great variety of counter-attacks depending on the equipped Shield.
Unforgiving combat with no random encounters; battles fought are plot-relevant and many heretics might even be spared, if that is to your liking.
Choices matter in both Story and character growth, offering a lot of Replayability through the Zodiac Qualities System.
Fluid and impactful pixel art animations.
Rewards through exploration: As you delve into the most heretical star clusters of the galaxy, you'll find a vast amount of explorable areas brimming with interactive objects. Many choices that will impact the game can be brought up through world interaction and exploration.
Interact with different Zodiacs outside the main quest depending on your own stat choices.
Non-self insert and overly villanious Main Character.
Unlikely friends and foes such as Goats, Snowmans, Save Dinosaurs and a Cookie Companion.
I’ve been working on this game for so long by now, the first screenshot I posted was on a /rpgmg/ thread, but when I posted in tumblr and saw people really liked my project I thought of taking it seriously, so I might say I’m only here now due to your support from the very beginning! You guys were awesome in lifting my spirits in the dark times, so I want to cherish this happy moment forever! I’ve been this far, where I thought I would never, released a demo, now the campaign, so your support means a LOT to me and I want you to be part of this as well! Thank you, as always, and I hope we can build together a better world filled with violent Zodiacs, cute lambs and cookie companions!

(I couldn’t help myself when I saw this video, I’m sorry)
I hope you guys like the Rewards and everything, really, I’ve put a lot of effort into those to give you the best I could! There’s a lot of new content on the game as well and a brand new trailer too showing things never showed anywhere before! Please note that some Early Bird Rewards are limited, so just the first ones to pledge will be able to get those! Also, if you are somewhat confused on when your credit card will be charged, Fig uses a system where you are only charged in the end of the campaign, if successful! Fig also uses Stripe, the same system as Kickstarter for payments to guarantee your security! ;) If you guys have any doubt about the campaign, please let me know here, via message or ask, or via the campaign comments section and I’ll try to help ASAP.
(Aries for pixel_dailies, the theme was coat so I thought it was appropriate :0)
Hello everyone, how are you doing? :3 I posted today a Fanart Contest, I hope you guys can participate, it will be super fun having your art on the game! I’m working tons on fixing the demo with some feedback I received indirectly on Let’s plays I watched! (Oh btw, SRDude played the demo, and said if he gets 200 likes he’ll do VvtZ playthrough of the end of the demo!)
I could rest a little today since everything is mostly done for the new demo release and I’ll probably launch a new build around next monday! Also: Scorpio and Cancer are on the way and I’ll be done with all the Zodiacs reveals! :0 I’m making new concept art for everyone too in the style of the concept arts shown on the Campaign Page!
Now for something you guys have been asking a LOT:
So... Why Virgo instead of any other Zodiac?
At first I thought of answering this with the first thing that came to mind “Oh, I like Virgo!” but that doesn’t sum up perfectly the reasons, so I thought of gathering some information from my heart to be more open and completely honest about it and everything!
I used to work with astrology, deciphering natal charts for people. I already had an understanding of the zodiac sign archetypes and used to think of them as RPG classes for fun, mainly to explain to people. In this sense, I always saw the Virgo archetype as a Paladin of sorts, with a huge holier-than-thou attitude and drawing from the ‘healer’ definition of the sign as well. The Virgo archetype can be very serious and self-righteous, which is exactly what I feel would be great for a main character in a game.
RPGs in general, hell, any game in general often features protagonists which go on adventures and try to defeat a great evil because of things that happened to their childhood, being revenge for a destroyed hometown, slain relative or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. While this is interesting by its own, I kind of wanted some protagonist who could do things because they saw the world as wrong. Protagonists often want to protect the status-quo in their journey, going against the change that happened in the world or that’s about to happen (such as an empire conquering everyone, a big bad dude trying to make everyone his slaves and all that and the protagonist trying to keep things peaceful as they were). For a change, I wanted the protagonist to be the one to change everything based on their own ideals, much like the villain of most games.
By taking the approach of the villain, I could create a reverse quest that would be a lot of fun to build interactions for, and going on a quest not because the world went to absolute shit, but because what the world as it is right now SEEMS horrible for the protag.
Considering all that, and my background to think of signs as archetypes, Virgo would be perfect for that. Someone like Aries as an archetype would be short-sighted to fix the world and would require something terrible happening to themselves as a trigger for going around the world. Taurus wouldn’t leave her bed, Scorpio fits more of a strategist rather than someone who directly goes to change things. Leo would rather seek approval for her ideals and gather followers in a leader-ish approach. Virgo would be disgusted with the world as it is and be forced to fix it on her own because no one else would agree with her overly critical reasons.
Virgo in game, while caring profoundly for those very close to her, never fails to find flaws on any and everything, creating an automatic reason to fix the world.
I also always roleplayed as Paladins lacking any kind of self-awareness of their own devotion on tabletop RPGs before, cause it’s much more fun to be driven by untouchable ideals that get totally distorted by blind faith.
Sorry for taking so long to answer all of you, I’m really sorry, I wanted to take my time to think of a proper answer to everyone, I hope you aren’t mad with me for my crazy delay!! :0 I hope this answers any doubt around that!
Don’t forget to check out the Crowdfunding Campaign!!
VIRGO SEASON, WOOOO! I am so excited!!! Today is Virgo’s birthday, so I should finally answer the infamous question:
WHY VIRGO OUT OF ALL THE OTHER ZODIACS
But not now. I’ll answer this later today! I’m preparing myself emotionally for that, it’s such a complicated question, so, stay tuned for that! *-*/
Working on material for the campaign rn! I’ll make some character sheets for Virgo, Ginger and Pisces as well! Btw, it is possible that I’ll run my campaign for Virgo on fig.co instead of Indiegogo! I’ll talk about it soon with more details!
Also, I am nearly finishing the trailer! I thought doing these kind of things were very alien, but it’s a lot easier than I thought! Sony Vegas is lovely!
A Fold Apart Now on Fig
Beautiful #indiegame @AFoldAprt by #indiedev @LRGthunder now funding on @PlayFig
A Fold Apart was easily one of the best puzzle games I saw at PAX East earlier this year, combining a heartwarming and poignant narrative about long-distance love, and a mechanic that was both innovative and aesthetically interesting.
A Fold Apart is now funding on fig.co, a crowdfunding firm that, unlike Kickstarter or Indiegogo, give backers a chance to invest in the future revenue stream of a…
