A guy at school today caught me playing a waifu dating sim on my phone in class. He then punched me in the gut so hard that I became nauseous. This is an excellent lesson in how every situation can be spun in your favor. Instead of cowering I manned up and vomited all over him, looking down at him with a satisfied smile as I watched my stomach acid melt his flesh and kill him.

Hey guys! How do you handle fight scenes?

I'm not gonna lie, they are not particularly my strong suit. How do you handle the pacing so it doesn't get bogged down?

How do you effectively handle multiple people without it getting confusing?

How do you convey vibe/what's happening while keeping it short to give the feelings of urgency???

I'm good with suspense and lead up, but I feel like I drag through my fight scenes. 😬

Any advice would greatly be appreciated!!!

Tips on fighting

Hit early, and god dammit, hit hard.

Say you’ll count to three and then throw a punch at two

Look each person you’re going to fight right in the eye. Self confidence works wonders, trust me. That and they deserve to see a pretty face before they get knocked out or killed.

If you want to blind an opponent, a cut to the forehead will mean a hell of a lot of blood.

A headbutt changes the game. No one expects a headbutt. It’s like bringing a sawn-off shotgun to a knife fight.

The quickest way to break a finger is to wrench it sideways, much better than bending it all the way back.

The best way to choke someone is from behind. You jam your thumbs on the back of their neck and fold up your fingers to press on the throat. That way, it’s harder to get your grip and your own fingers broken and your ass handed to you.

Please for the LOVE OF GOD if you get into a fight NEVER KICK ABOVE THE FUCKING KNEES you are not a damn Kung fu panda your opponent WILL grab your leg and they WILL yank you foward I AM SO TIRED OF SEEING PEOPLE LOST FIGHTS BC THEY GOT THEIR LEG GRABED your kicks should never go above your opponents knee.

(This does not apply if you are trained in fighting well enough to be able to do this without worry of your leg getting yanked)

Shane is a great teacher (and I gotta say, as a person who's studying education it's always nice to watch someone who really can teach) and I totally love his videos despite not being a martial artist myself

This is beautiful. Shane’s body movements are so controlled and he knows what he’s doing, well enough to be able to teach it (not in this particular video though but whatever)

TW for discussions of blood and stabbing

if you get stabbed, LEAVE THE KNIFE IN. the wound will close around the blade, sealing most of the blood inside. let medical professionals remove it in an environment where you are in no danger of bleeding out. reasons to remove knife after being stabbed:

you have no other choice and you must have a weapon

also maybe if it is poisoned

also don’t trust what I say, research it with reliable sources

jabbing someone in the throat with an open hand, fingers straight, might be more effective than a punch to get them to back off
