🔸I’m a simple sheep rancher/environmental conservationist and I’m from the middle of nowhere where the air hurts my face. [North Dakota, USA]. So you can expect some rambling about my sheep/animals and happenings around my life every so often. I have been informed that we're all a little bit crazy up here. 🐏

🔸I’m also an artist and writer who really enjoys exploring the dark, grey, gore, and fucked up themes. My writing/art is heavily character driven - and most of those characters are traumatized and make dumb choices. There is a ton of symbolism in my writing/art that probably only makes sense to me. I’m not sorry, and I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to. My brain makes weird connections and works in ways I don’t even understand. Animals, time of day, and anthropomorphizing inanimate objects are my go to’s in metaphors and symbols.

🔸Music is a huge driving factor in my work. There's a good chance that any art piece or any scene in something I've made was sparked by a song. I try to write the emotions and feelings music gives me. If you drop a song in my ask box, I will be overjoyed. I will forever love trading music back and forth with people. I am the dragon that hoards music. So go ahead, don't be shy! Shoot me your favorite song! I'll share a song in return!

Writing Projects:

🔅Main: Social Throwaways - Life sucks. At least it's in good company - right? A young lady, nicknamed 808[derogatory], finds herself thrown to the underbelly of society. To a place that would have no problem eating anyone whole. Taken in by a small group of unlikely friends. If that’s what you want to call them - people forced together with no other options. One of them might be more of a hazard than anything else in the group. They have to survive. Hunted like pests, while also trying to survive each other’s traumas and poor choices. Nothing is truly safe, and everything bites.

This WIP falls somewhere between dystopian, transgressive, and dark contemporary. It's a moral choice if you're going to like certain characters.

♨️Secondary: Fly Trap - Lovely monstrous creatures roam about and try to do what they do best. Someone has to be responsible enough to be one of the people who try and clean things up. Whether they wanted that job in the first place or not. Do it for the greater good, or whatever one is told when told to do something by someone with far more authority than them. Is a body actually your own property? Or can it belong to someone else?

This WIP is still very early on in its creation. Still a lot of vague ideas and sticky notes right now. The vibe here is dry cynical humor and snarky responses wrapped up in a nice grim dark sci-fi package.

But I wish I had a normal fucking family. Who knew suggesting that it's a normal occurrence to vacuum out your car, would start a fucking shit storm

I hate grown ass adults who act incompetent and incapable of doing anything for themselves and then turn around and make it your problem all while trying to guilt trip you and make you out to be the bad person as you're doing the very simple thing they are 'incapable' of doing FOR them. It's great when it's your own parent and this has been your life for as long as you can remember. I'm sick of it.

Fuck. I've been out in the field for the past 12 hrs putting up hay for my own animals today. It's been 100F degrees all day. It's been miserable to say the least. Tearing apart equipment in the field and running a tractor with a closed cab with no AC (aka, it's an oven).

Only to get a phone call from the one parent saying that THEIR horses are in the barn and how someone should go pick up a broken square bale to go feed them. (My other parent is currently doing hay as well and there's some broken bales that need to be picked up and fed. Also. I live in a completely different town and county. Yes I'm only 45 minutes away. But to drop everything to go do what someone else wants when I'm in the middle of my own shit is sickening. It's an everyday thing.)

Lord forbid I said "yeah you can go grab one of the broken bales by the lane to the yard."

Which resulted in a back and forth exchange of

"what you expect me to put the hay in my car?"

"Well where's the truck? Use the truck to grab it." (Keep in mind the truck is mine. I have basically given my parents a whole ass pick up truck that I have paid for and was my daily driver. I let them barrow it because their other vehicle broke down and I've never gotten it back. It's been over a year. I ended up taking out a loan to buy a new truck for myself.)

"Well no. You told me to use my car. You really think I'm going to wreck my car by putting a bale of hay in it? You want me to wreck the car? Would you put it in you car?"

"Yeah I have put hay in the back seat of my vehicle before. I had to do what I had to do. So if you want to use your car instead of the truck. I guess use the car."

"No you have NEVER done that. You're lying. Bullishit."

"Yeah I have. I just vacuumed up the loose hay when I was done. My truck currently needs to be vacuumed out as we speak. It's not a big deal to vacuum a car out."

"So you expect me to vacuum my car. Fuck you."

And then hang up.

And now I keep getting chewed out, even though I'm here. Feeding this parents horses for them, because they can't be bothered to drive to the end of the lane and grab a hay bale in MY truck I GIFTED them. And I'm being called a bitch and everything under the sun because even though I AM HERE TO FEED THE ANIMALS EVEN THOUGH I LIVE 45 MINUTES AWAY, I apparently wouldn't have done it otherwise and I'm a terrible person. Even though I'm here...to feed the animals... because if I don't...said parent wouldn't...

Like WTF even is this? Like how do you guys deal with this behavior? I'm so fucking over it. It's only the one parent that treats me this way, so if I fuck off all the bullshit gets directed at the parent that I actually has the right to call themselves my parent.

Oh I also got yelled at by them saying all I do is use them....since I moved out the moment I turned 18, I have asked this parent for literally nothing. Ever. Only to pay the insurance on the truck I gave them since it's still on my policy under my name.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What do you do when your're between writing projects to recharge your creative battery? If you jump from one project to another without an in between time, how do you avoid burning out?

So it's been a hot while since I've hopped between projects or even finished one. Today's adult life has definitely put a major dampener on my ability to sit and write (or do art for that matter.) Both physically and mentally😅. But back in the day, I'd jump between projects without a break in-between. Burnout was never much of an issue for me back then.

I guess what saved me from burnout was the fact that writing was, and still is, an escape for me. I wrote so I could recharge. Writing continuously gave me more inspiration for further projects. Not writing felt like the creativity crash, haha.

Nowadays, I feel like it would be much of the same. Just at a lot slower pace because life gets in the way, unfortunately.

What I need to work on personally is to give myself time to actually sit down to write so I can recharge. The longer I don't sit to write, the more mentally grueling it gets for me to do. Which isn't a position I like being in. At all.

One thing that is canon with Macaw is that he is actually kind of clumsy. His spacial awareness isn't all that great. Like he is hyper villagant and constantly analyzing a room/situation for the slightest change. His ability to read a room is second to none. But this poor guy is constantly shoulder checking door frames, walking into table corners, and lightly tripping on things.

I just don't know how to effectively write that in. Big tough guy, but loses daily fights to a door or chair.😅

Tight spaces and depth perception are his worst enemy. A bull in a china shop.

Whole other worlds existed outside of the one they knew. Each little section of the city and each person existed to their own. Even the expedition to Cattle Creek was entering into one that they had no clue of. Only Macaw had the taste of it - and wanted to rip it to shreds with tooth and claw. Pillaging like that world owed him something personally. The mess he left, that looked like it could have only been an act done out of passion.

In my fleeting moments of free time during my busy season, I was able to finally start writing a new chapter!

So I down the first shot in my current round of three and it doesn’t help, but it doesn’t exactly make anything worse either.

Questions that need answers. Reasons for him to stay just a little longer.

Unimportant, replaceable, but useful enough to keep alive.

All I want is to lie down somewhere and not move for a week.

Right now, here, with this stranger doing exactly what I told him to do, I can’t handle what it’s dredging up.

Even weeks after we met, the lingering ghost of his kindness with all its unfamiliarity still has power over me.

Don’t get me wrong, the temptation is definitely there, but I can’t be bothered dealing with the fallout from it.
