Contemporary Art Exhibition “Apnea” at The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design & Environmental Studies

*apnea: The term “apnea” is used to describe the suspension of breathing. In water sports, the term refers to the voluntary holding of breath by keeping the face below the surface of the water.Apnea or calm in both meteorology and shipping is characterized by the complete lack of wind. The exhibition is open to all artistic practices (painting, sculpture, printmaking, mosaic, photography, installation, coding art, AI-Artificial Intelligence art , Sound art, video art, 3D art, animation, performance, lectures, etc.) and encourages experimental approaches within a creative context.

My project it’s centred in the interaction between art and technology using the sound as medium. I use VLF radios to record the electromagnetic sounds, and variance of the sonic environment of the residence place and atmosphere. The main object its generate a cartographic perspective form the place, taking in consideration other level of reality that are above the human perception, and in this processes understand the usability of technology to construct a more profound understanding of the space, environmental circumstances and imminences that are generated in a spectral level of the reality.

During my time in Indonesia, I made some field recordings. Here is a bird that sounds like the modems of yesteryear and the modular synths of the future. I found it in the jungle around Kelimutu.
