India is a highly geographically diverse place with a richness of culture that has served as the source of artistic inspiration to Bollywood cinema.
Whether it is snow-peaked mountains, sun-kissed deserts, robust cities, or serene backwaters, the sub-continent has the prettiest cinematic settings that no other venue could ever capture.
Like ardent followers of film, going to such prominent shooting points is not a journey to these die-hard organisations of Bollywood.

Global travel industry has very recently been in the storm with a phenomenon called "set-jetting"—the merging of "jet-setting" and "film set." This has started out as a niche interest of hardcore film buffs and has turned into a trend where fans would jet across the world to trip real world locations depicted in their favorite TV shows and movies. Thanks to being able to watch foreign shows with relative ease, 'set-jetting' is proving to be a major pull for nations as the force that determines where and how people travel.
This is me when I am doing home office in my parents garden. At this point I was writing an automated API call to get over 4 years worth of data from Instagram about #screentourism at @wilder.kaiser 🏔👨⚕️ Because of restrictions I can just place a call every 10 seconds and thats why it takes long and its good that I automate this process... a couple of minutes after this picture the algorithm will stop because of a single line of “length = inf” at the end of 2017... the garden helps to overcome the frustration of failed attempts and tmmr is another day 🌿☀️ #bergdoktorarbeit #filmtourism #wilderkaiser #rstudio (at Hamburg, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRCPRTsp-JL/?utm_medium=tumblr
Its day 4 of my lets say “awakening” i’ve been reading the magic, again its by Rhonda Byrne. I wanted to show what this has done for my life.
Firstly, i have taken this seriously because i want to create the abundence i deserve, i no longer wanted to feel deflated or down on my luck, i want to be able to create my own future. I am grateful for all that i have now and all i have so far recieved from the universe, however i want to push this, i read a chapter each night and start again in the morning. I write down my 10 things i am grateful for first thing every morning, i then follow the next steps for that day. So far i have completed, graitude for my health, my relationships and now the money i had recieved growing up.
I’ll tell you one thing, this has utterly changed my life, i have not only taken inspiration from this book to change my life through the different steps of this book, i have also learned to take inspiration in my life. I have a deep passion for film tourism, taken from my BA in Tourism many years ago and one thing i utterly took too was film tourism. I feel so inspired by what a televison or series has created and how they created it in a background, and how economically benefical it is so some places that enhanced tourism could change a locals way of life. I never thought in a million years i would create a blog, let alone pay for the web domain or premium features of a blog. The magic has allowed me to create a future dream and this is something i will be forever grateful for, because without being able to look into myself and what i could create i would never have thought in a million years to do something this this.

Traveling to film locations
Ideally filming locations would be in arms reach, but sometimes we have to go further afield to see where our favorite movies really did take place. But the question reminds, why do we want or need to travel to these places? it's all about our motivations in life, the need for escape and fantasy.
Before we start getting into the "nitty gritty", lets talk about film / screen tourism. As I have described in other posts, films that are located in beautiful and unique places can create a certain charm about them, that creates a picturesque place for us to visit. On one hand, films do not intentionally produce the idea of "please come visit here" due to the fact it's primary use is to fit the films / series idea, however it is also not a bad thing for films to promote a place were fans can visit as it boosts the local economy and feeds into escapism and fantasy. Either way the films / series has unintentionally created a cognitive image that realistically can last for decades.
Escapism: Escapism is a term understood by the wider population in order to leave what stressful situation that person is in "I need to escape". This term is usually pursued in holidays in their home country or abroad, but adding into screen tourism enables that person consume themselves in the products that are sold by films rather than holiday companies. Sometimes escapism can be a connection through the film itself , a person can connect to a certain character and want to indulge in their lifestyle through cosplay (more on that later) or simply to remove themselves from their everyday life and take a trip beside their favorite character.
Fantasy: Research suggests that no one person lives in this world, that a person lives in two worlds at once, this reminds us that we can live in the reality world were we go to work each day, look after ourselves and / or families confined in physical space (touching, smelling, seeing and hearing) and time. However, we can also move within the spiritual world that is build on memories, this can come into remembering past moments, day dreaming and the stories that we tell, basically anywhere else that is not what you can see everyday. This does not mean that what you see cannot be real, but it can be a source of your imagination, therefore incorporating fantasy into real life becomes a type of escapism.
Escaping into a fantasy world can actually be what every person needs to give themselves a break, it doesn't matter if its for cosplay reasons or not it's about escape of the real world. Myself, I'm not into Cosplay (but those who are, you are AWESOME!) however, the idea of being able to plan a full day of visiting places were my favorite films had taken place, walking in the shoes of those particular characters and if I decide to book a tour, it would be great to meet people that are likewise myself. I mean with some of the places you can visit for your film fix, you can also learn about the history of the places you are visiting and indulge in their culture, how amazing! Whatever your reason for wanting to visit a film tourism site, whether it be for general, historical, cultural, or screen, be respectful of the place you are visiting the sustainability is the driving force behind why you are lucky enough to visit, allow someone else that same respect.
