Still needs some adjustments but I made a thing for my thumb. Made of galvanized steel wire, theoretically less likely to rust/tarnish but we’ll see.
Shout out to all of the people who use a mobility aid, stability device or pain relieving aid that’s hidden. The people who use knee braces, wrist braces, scoliosis and spine braces, ankle braces, ring and finger splints, neck braces, and otherwise hidden aids to help themself. You deserve a place in this community like anyone else, if you are disabled, or even if you just need these things to live a better quality of life, even if no one can see you using them because they’re inconspicuous or under clothing, you’re allowed to use what you need to help yourself and you have a place in this community.
Hi hello! Where did you get your ring splits? They look really cool
hiii! i got them from this wonderful small business called zebra splints. the owner is someone who also has hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome and handmakes the splints.
because they are high quality and handmade they will end up becoming very pricey if you need them for more than just a couple of joints, and depending on the material and add ons (i had to get add ons for each of mine bc of the multiple ways my fingers sublux/dislocate and had to get titanium due to allergies). i would recommend getting a cheap plastic us ring sizer from amazon or something so you can get the exact sizes you need. i didnt do this and the sizing is just very slightly off on most of them 😭
it also seems like theyre having a summer sale atm which would be helpful with the pricing. if you have any other questions about them lemme know 💚
finger splints!
Do any other autistic peeps on here get tired of constantly altering their language in order to be more understandable?
Like I know this probably applies to a lot of peeps but it’s a huge part of being autistic specifically
Like sometimes I want to be jokingly aggressive like:
“what the fuck up who the fuck wants to buy me some joint splint jewellery, hoes?!”
(Basically channeling my inner Dan Howell tbh)
But then I’m like “nope can’t do that, not everyone will understand it’s jokingly said”
And so I either just don’t post it or I edit myself to kingdom come
And that really happens for a lot of things in my life
I’m so scared of being misunderstood/not understood that I over complicate everything
And it’s just very tiring tbh
Getting all splinted up 🤘🤘🤘
