Summary: The daycare assistant brought in something interesting to show the kids and ofcourse the daycare attendant was curious as well.
*"It's The Little Things" is essentially a series of shorts [500~ words each] centered around Moon that I've been typing, but never posted. Soft. Very soft.
One of his human coworkers brought in a toy called a finger trap and during naptime, they showed him it upon request. He'd only heard about the object from Sun and his twin was refusing to spoil it.
The toy wasn't made with big animatronic hands in mind and so, when the assistant asked him to hold out his hands, they had to get creative. His pinkies thankfully fit and they told him to try to pull, but don't break it.
Moon did as asked and was surprised the toy held his fingers captive. It tightened around his digits and only tightened further the more he pulled. Of course, he figured it out quickly and brought his pinkies together to unbind himself, but he could understand why the children would be bewildered by it.
"Sun said you used this to teach the kids…" he paused to think of the word, "Trust?"
"Oh, yeah, I did. Well, more like I used it in place of a 'get along' shirt," they laughed, fiddling with the finger trap after he had handed it back. Like a light bulb went off, they perked up and looked up at Moon with an eager, but nervous energy, "Do you want to see?"
Moon didn't see the harm and held out his pinky when asked. He had an idea of what was going to happen.
They slipped one end on his pinky and then slid their pointer into the other end. For a moment, he could feel their finger bump his and automatically he tried pulling back to give them more room. The trap tightened and resulted in him gently tugging the human forward.
Moon froze and looked at the very amused human.
"You remember how to get out of it, right?" They questioned him with a little tug and he nodded. To prove it, Moon tried to push his finger forward to bring their fingers together again, but the assistant pulled back and ruined his efforts.
Moon paused and if he could squint he would. For now, all he could do was tilt his head questioningly.
"Get along shirt, remember?" They chuckled quietly, mindful of the sleeping kids and it clicked for Moon what he had walked into.
"No," he hissed as quietly as he could at the cheeky little shit he was currently tied to.
This began a battle to get his coworker to cooperate and to muffle giggles and hissed whispers. It escalated to play wrestling and both of them knew the animatronic could easily pin the human down no problem if he wanted.
Thing is, he didn't get to play often. He was the naptime attendant so he mostly kept an eye on the kids, kept an eye out for danger, and soothed guests and cleaned up.
This was a nice change of pace.
The finger trap requires teamwork and trust to escape, but he felt this human allowing themselves to be bound to him, a towering figure of metal and pistons, was a greater show of trust. They had faith he'd be careful. They had faith he wouldn't simply break the toy.
It was touching and oddly intimate.
Eventually, they had to end their little game when one of the children woke up early.
