Do you have three favorite things about your new OC? 👀

Hey, Zel! Thank you so much for asking about my newest darling, Finley March. She is a Ted Lasso OC.

I made a whole introductory post about her with this ask Kass sent me for bingo, but I'll share a bit more about her with you, of course.

I love that I get to explore a topic near and dear to my heart: dealing with the aftermath of abuse. Prior to the beginning of Finley's eventual fic, she was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship for ten years. As an emotional abuse survivor myself, it's something I'm looking forward to exploring.

I love that she lives in London and works in a pub! I consider London my adopted home, so exploring that environment and culture is so much fun. There's nothing like going down to the pub for a pint with friends and loved ones.

I love that she's kind. After everything she's been through, she still firmly believes in second chances. She's kind to everyone and will give them the benefit of the doubt within reason. She's learning to trust her instincts, and it feels refreshing to write a character who isn't so sure of her morals and doesn't always trust her own gut.

Thank you again! Apparently, I love creating OCs for obscure fandoms that no one else has OCs for.

Hello BINGO buddy! Since I LOVE seeing lots of OCs, with this ask I challenge you to create a new OC plot bunny and tell me about them with this ask - any fandom, any faceclaim, any pairing - the only rule is you can't have already thought of them. 😜 Don't worry, I won't make you write them . . . unless you ask me to force you. haha.

I literally came up with this one less than an hour ago, so it counts because I say it does. This is me creating characters for obscure fandoms again, so enjoy. Thank you for asking, Kass!

Background / Story:

Finley was born and raised in a small, poverty-ridden village in Northern England. When she was fifteen, she started a relationship with a man several years her senior. He isolated her from her family, kept her from making friends, and prevented her from getting an education. Their relationship was riddled with abuse, which was physical, emotional, and financial in nature.

At 24, almost ten years later, Finley's finally hidden enough money away to run. So she does. She runs away to London, where she gets a job at a pub, the Crown and Anchor. There she meets Ted Lasso, an eternal optimist and football coach to the local team AFC Richmond. She tries to keep him at bay, but he's persistent, and they slowly become friends. Other than that, she keeps her head down and does what she does best: pour drinks and serve food. And that's exactly what she's doing the night Jamie Tartt walks into the pub to ask Ted for his place on the team back.

Ted asks Finley if people deserve a second chance, while Jamie is right there. Completely taken aback by someone asking her opinion, she just says yes, not knowing that kindness from a stranger is precisely what Jamie needed. Jamie starts to come back to the pub to talk to Finley, the two become close, but there are secrets between them. Finley can't let him all the way in because she's terrified that her ex will come for her and make good on all the threats he ever made toward her.

3. Do they get jealous easily? If so, what usually causes it?

Not at all. Finley is probably the least jealous person I can think of despite the fact that she eventually starts dating a star football player. She's surprisingly secure in that way.

7. What’s their “type”? What romantically attracts them to another person?

This is a complicated question when you look at Finley. She's never really been 'allowed' to have a type because she met her ex-partner when she was fifteen, and he was a grown-ass adult who manipulated and abused her. As such, she never really developed a type. In the end, it boils down to how someone makes her feel and their character. It helps if they're physically attractive, but it's a secondary thing in Finley's mind.

9. If they could change one part of their appearance, what would it be?

For a long time, she despises the scar that runs along the base of her throat. It's raised and jagged and just doesn't look nice. Eventually, she learns to live with it because it's a reminder of where she's been but also where she's going. She's not too keen on her curly hair, though, which will be a running theme in her fic.

13. How forgiving are they? What do they consider unforgivable?

Phoebe is very forgiving and very sympathetic. She believes that people are inherently good and kind and that when people do bad things, it's because they've been pushed to their limits. I'm not sure what she considers unforgivable yet, but I do know that she doesn't like being lied to.

19. What’s their unusual quirk?

I haven't gotten that far in the development process yet, but I know that she fidgets with her ID badge, especially when she's anxious.
