Still thinking about this moment at the end of the fire chapter where Wu tried to stop the ninja from going to the Never Realm by fighting them with the scroll.
Before knowing the context behind his intentions, it seems as if Wu is doing something "irrational" and fueled by his emotions (at least, that's how the ninja saw it) but when I was thinking about it more... The reason why he used the scroll when fighting them was because the amount of power flowing through him would stop him from feeling guilt about fighting the ninja off. Basically, he was trying to numb his feelings, so it's no wonder he still held onto the scroll despite its potential corrupting effects.
Like. Wu is already perfectly capable of fighting all the ninja off on his own. The fact that he also used the scroll was just a testament to how much he wanted the power in the scroll to blind his emotions enough so he wouldn't feel a thing. It's kind of a crazy thought.
Award for the most self-sacrificial character either goes to him or Zane (so far from what I've watched). Because what the hell.
Yes yes yes i know big great crystalized just dropped and everyone’s worked up about it but look at this
WHY DIDN’T FIRE CHAPTER GO LIKE THIS
THIS LOOKS SO COOL
Like imagine the ninja somehow losing Kai in the pyramid and thinking he’s dead
But him getting lucky and surviving, waking up, seeing all this chaos and kinda just assuming that the others are dead
And the main fire chapter plot being about Kai going on this solo adventure, living in his car, fighting Pyro Vipers all over Ninjago, mourning his friends’ “deaths” and being realllly depressed, kinda like Lloyd in S9
While the ninja are fighting Aspheera in Ninjago City and mourning Kai
There are a lot of details to figure out, but come on, this would’ve worked
Art by Matt Betteker
In Ninjago Season 11, when Clutch Powers brings the ninja to the rope bridge, he tells them, “Rickety Old Bridges. Only one way to cross them: fast and first. Last person in line usually doesn't make it!”
The other ninja hesitate.
But Nya? She goes “challenge accepted” and bolts for the bridge without a second thought.
I keep thinking about how Aspheera was handled and honestly, she’s not really that memorable other than being a snake with magic. (I’ve seen better snakes with magic though ngl)
Also, how did she not lose her sanity during her millennia long imprisonment? Like I get vengeance was on her mind but what would’ve happen if she got it and won?
Would she have been excited for victory but then felt empty by then because she had nothing else going for her? Would she have continued on to attack the Ninja who originally had no business with her until she took their sensei away?
I feel like we should expand on that possibility.
Anyone else remember that time Lloyd was afraid of becoming his father (despite that being his goal in season 1), Nya was afraid of being powerless and weak (probably due to her history of having her agency taken from her), and Zane was afraid of losing himself? And how Zane's fears came true just a few episodes later? Because I think about that a LOT
