So Polo running into Ace went very badly. What happens when Spade finds Marco?
Oh man there is just so much that it’s fucked up with Spade. I don’t even really know where to start with him because I’m determined to have him ... unredeemable. Not so much so because his story isn’t tragic and sympathetic, his past is the same as canon Ace but he chose a different path. He also didn’t have Luffy and didn’t really have Sabo which plays a major role in how he turned out. So he’s unredeemable in the way that he kind of chooses not to be, if that makes sense?
To the subject at hand, Spade sees Marco as someone to manipulate because he still sees the similarities between him and Polo. And Spade wasn’t very “nice” to Polo, he never really learned to value companionship like Ace so he uses people for his own benefit. But Spade is a shark in sheep's clothing, as to say he doesn’t pull off being “Ace” very well. Or at least the Ace that Marco knows and loves and by this point he’s already met Polo and knows that there is some unsavory history between them. Which is why Polo hates Ace so much (until he doesn’t but that’s later).
