Guide to Watching Firefly for First Time Viewers, That Nobody Asked for (Because I'm Annoying and this Annoyed Me When I First Watched it so You Know It's REALLY BAD)
Firefly is kinda famous for not having released its episodes chronologically when it aired back in 2002. Most sites I've been on has fixed this, as in, they have the episodes in the right order, but for SOME REASON they then scramble the episode names to confuse unsuspecting people into stepping into a metaphorical sarlacc's mouth.
That's what this is for. So you don't get future episodes spoiled when you haven't seen them yet.
(Another important thing to note is that I Do Not Have Netflix or Any Other Fancy Streaming Service, so I don't actually know if they get it right.)
So how this is gonna work is I'm going to put a screenshot of the first thing you see for each episode, its name, chronological episode number, and release number, so you know where to look if something goes wrong. Also a short summary for what happens in the first scene. Non-spoilery stuff.
Episode 1: Serenity (NOT THE MOVIE!!), may be under the name The Train Job
Ep. release number (the WRONG number): 11
The first scene is a battle (that frame above is a Big Explosion, as you can see) with shooting and shouting and all kinds of war stuff. This episode is also twice as long as a normal episode, so if it says it's about an hour and a half long, you probably got the right one
Episode 2: The Train Job (may be under the name Bushwacked)
Ep. release number: 1
First scene happens in a bar with a girl dancing in between the tables, pausing to hand someone a message behind their back
Episode 3: Bushwacked (may be under the name Our Mrs. Reynolds)
Ep. release number: 2
The above image opens right before the first scene, where the crew is playing some form of space basketball
Episode 4: Shindig (may be under the name Jaynestown)
Ep. release number: 6
Opening scene starts with a couple of people playing pool with holographic balls (ooh, sci-fi)
Episode 5: Safe (may be under the name Out of Gas)
Ep. release number: 7
The episode starts with a boy doing his homework, and a girl playing with herself.
Episode 6: Our Mrs. Reynolds (may be under the name Shindig)
Ep. release number: 3
Opening scene starts with a cart being pulled by two horses through a shallow river.
Episode 7: Jaynestown (may be under the name Safe)
Ep. release number: 4
First scene starts with two people (Simon and Kaylee) standing in a hall, arguing over whether Simon swears or not.
Episode 8: Out of Gas (may be under the name Ariel)
Ep. release number: 5
The Serenity (spaceship, see image above) is dead in space. All the rooms inside it are dark, and empty.
Episode 9: Ariel (may be under the name War Stories)
Ep. release number: 8
Everyone is in the common room, getting food, and chatting
Episode 10: War Stories (may be under the name Objects in Space)
Ep. release number: 9
Episode starts with two people (see image above) looking at brain scans on a computer and discussing a very real person named Shan Yu
Episode 11: Trash (may be under the name Serenity)
Incorrect ep. number: 13
The episode opens with a panning shot of an empty desert-y place, and stops on a guy sitting on a rock, contemplating how he got into the situation he's in (it's pretty bad)
Episode 12: The Message (may be under the name Heart of Gold)
Incorrect ep. number: 14
Opening scene is in a space station with a space carnival and there's talk of aliens
Episode 13: Heart of Gold (may be under the name Trash)
Incorrect ep. number: 12
Camera zooms in from outer space to a house that looks like it's wrapped in foil. A couple of people are hanging up laundry
Episode 14: Objects in Space (may be under the name The Message)
Incorrect ep. release number: 10
The Serenity (see image above) flies past a planet. Camera zooms into the ship, up to a girl (River) who's listening to people talking
Serenity (THE MOVIE that came out in 2005)
I'm not going to bother with a screen capture because it's a MOVIE it's not in the same place as the SHOW it's not as difficult as the others.
I AM going to say, however that you shouldn't watch the movie before the show. It comes after. Spare yourself the pain.

Okay that's it. I didn't double check this so if there are any mistakes let me know :)
