Yay, so glad I found this: I think an interesting idea is if Ultron only stopped trying to harm humanity because of one oblivious y/n who treats them kindly. And the funniest part: everybody knows about it except for Y/n.
Omg, anon, this is great! Can you imagine? Like damn, lol. The Avengers would be SO confused, it's honestly fucking hilarious just thinking about it. Like, why be scared when you can be kind, am I right?
Also, thanks for the request, I got so excited when I saw it in my notifications

It was late in the Avengers tower, and the party had slowly died down leaving you, Helen Cho, and the Avengers to a small after party.
You thought that you probably should've left when everyone else did since you had work in the morning, but you rarely had fun like this so you opted to stay.
Stories and playful comments were shared all around, the atmosphere was comfortable amongst the group. You took a sip of the non alcoholic beverage in your hands, wanting to stay sober enough for the drive home. You were mainly in your own thoughts when one of the Avengers, you're not sure who, commented about being worthy to lift Thor's hammer, which brought you back to reality. Each one took a turn and approximately halfway through, a few gazes turned to you, making you tense up slightly.
"[____], why don't you give it a try?" Steve suggested, making your face flush slightly.
"Oh, no thanks, I'm okay." You immediately declined, taking another sip of your drink.
"Come on, it wouldn't hurt to try."
You let out a breath at his words, blinking slowly as you thought about your decision. Ultimately, you caved in and set your drink down before standing up from your seat, moving to stand where the hammer's handle was angled.
You couldn't help but feel a little curious if you were worthy, despite declining just moments ago.
You took a deep breath and flexed your hands before firmly grabbing onto the handle, your eyes trained on the hammer. With all your strength, you make an attempt to lift the hammer yet just like the ones before, you were barely able to lift the hammer up, not even a centimeter. You tried it one more time and you could've sworn that it lifted up that time, though you weren't sure.
"Damn, what is this made of?" You joked lightly, resulting in a few laughs from everyone else.
With that, you retract your hands before moving back to your spot, picking up your drink and holding it in your hands again.
This is how the rest of the night played out, each one of the Avengers taking a turn to lift Thor's hammer. Tony wasn't able to do it by himself, so he had Rhodes help him out. That also didn't work, despite even using the arm thrusters from their suits. It was Steve's turn, and you couldn't help but be a little curious about his worth to the hammer. You leaned forward slightly as he firmly gripped the handle, just as you and the others had. He lifted up just barely off the table and the small smile that was your face quickly fell, your eyes widening at what you just witnessed.
'There's no way.' You thought to yourself, wondering if you were hallucinating or not.
You realized you weren't hallucinating when you glanced up to see Thor's expression and he was just as shocked as you were, if not more. No one else seemed to notice, still just laughing and having a good time. You brought your smile back to cover the shock you just experienced, leaning back in your spot slightly.
'Well, that just happened.' You thought, finishing off your drink.
Slowly, you stood up and placed the now empty glass on a side table, then gathered your things.
"Alright, I'm gonna head out, you all have a good night." You spoke, announcing your leave.
They bid you their farewells and said one yourself before heading towards the towers elevator, a slight eagerness in your step to get some rest.

It's been a few days since the night of the party and you've caught wind of an AI escaping, an AI by the name of Ultron. Supposedly, he crashed the after party just moments later of your leave that night, which left you slightly disappointed to not have met him but oh well.
You fiddled with your keyring as you tried to find the one that would unlock your apartment door, flipping through each key with careful analysis. You let out a slight breath of relief as you caught sight of the key you were looking for, sticking it into the lock and turning it to unlock your door. You push it open and step into your apartment before closing the door behind you, tossing your keys onto the side table nearby. You took off and hung up your coat before glancing around your barely lit apartment, not remembering it being so dark.
The curtains were closed which caused the apartment to be so dark, but you don't remember closing them before you left.
"Ah, you return." A cold, monotonous voice states, making you shiver.
You instinctively reached to turn on the light but you were stopped when you felt a metallic hand in your wrist, making you stop your movements. You turn your attention to the person, or rather, machine that had grabbed your wrist, making your heart race. Two more metallic hands grip your other arm, making you turn your attention to see another machine holding you in place.
There were two of them, and you couldn't help but feel a little panicked. But, wait, who was the one who spoke?
"Humanity is... a flaw, among other things." That same voice said, your attention turning to the darkness of your apartment.
You could hear a faint whirring and slight creaking of metal as the person- machine- whoever it was stood up, at least you think they stood up. You were proved right when you then saw red lights in the darkness, and it freaked you out that it resembled a pair of eyes.
You could hear the faint clinking of metal on wood as he seemed to make his way towards you, your eyes widening slightly as you saw him fully in the one light you did manage to turn on.
It was another machine, except this one was taller, much taller, eight feet maybe but you weren't sure.
"Who are you?" You managed to ask in a calm tone, despite your nervousness.
He gave a low chuckle as he raised one of his hands, the coolness of the metal against your skin making you shiver as he firmly gripped your jaw, as if to keep your attention on him.
"Oh, I think you know." He spoke, slightly tilting his head.
You silently put the pieces together in your head before slowly realizing who was in front of you, your eyes widening further.
"Ultron...?" You wondered, your voice a low whisper.
He gave a hum of approval, his optics flickering over your face.
"Hm, yes, I am Ultron." He confirmed, making you shiver slightly.
His hand on your jaw gripped you a little more firmly, the metal of his hand digging just slightly into your skin.
"Ah, I heard you escaped the Avengers tower a few days ago." You spoke with a slight confidence. "Sucks I didn't get to meet you then, though."
Despite being held by, what you think is, two of his sentries as he towered menacingly above you, you didn't feel an ounce of fear in your mind. Sure, you were still nervous but you weren't terrified of him.
You could see his optics squint just slightly at your words, as if trying to find a hidden meaning behind them.
"You're not scared of me." He stated as his hand fell from your jaw, a slight uncertainty in his voice. "Why?"
You mimicked his head tilt and gave a small smile, a curious look in your eyes.
"Why would I be?" You asked as a reply, blinking slowly. "I mean, you haven't harmed me so I would have no reason to."
That was not the worst answer you've given, though there was probably a better one.
"I like your eyes." You spoke suddenly, your smile widening a bit. "They're like a pair of rubies."
Ultron seemed to falter at your compliment, but you didn't catch on to that.
He wasn't used to kind words, let alone compliments. And it made him feel... strange.
You tore your attention away from him as you felt the sentry holding your wrist move to hold your hand, the subtle action causing your heart to almost flutter. You turned your head to the right as the other sentry shifted as well, going so far as to hug your arm and gently press its head to your shoulder.
"Aw, look at them." You spoke softly, not pushing them away. "They're so cute."
Cute. Cute. That was new.
Your gaze was too focused on the sentries on either side of you to even notice the surprised look on Ultron's face, his optics widening at the sight in front of him.
"They seem... fond of you." Ultron stated suddenly, turning your attention back to him. "Strange."
You gave a hum in acknowledgement, not so much minding the gentle attention you're receiving.
"So, uh, why is it that you're here?" You asked, slightly tilting your head. "I mean, I don't mind the unexpected company, but why exactly?"
He didn't answer immediately and let your questions hang in the air, his optics flickering over your face as if trying to read your expression.
"You okay there, Ultron?" You inquired softly, a gentle look in your gaze.
He seemed to falter again at your soft tone and concern, which made him feel odd. He wasn't used to kindness or concern, they were human qualities after all. But he wasn't human, so why was this particular one making him feel... fuzzy, as they'd put it.
"Ah," he spoke suddenly, bringing himself from his trance before speaking again, "yes, I'm fine."
That was his simple reply before simply walking around you to your apartment door, his sentries following suit by slowly letting go of you. You turned around to face him as soon as your arms were free, your eyes blinking slowly. Nothing else was said more as he opened the door with his sentries in tow, leaving without another word as they left the apartment. Though, you had a feeling you'd be seeing him again.

Ultron was lost in his work, his work of building himself a new body. He was doing a fine job at it, too, though he found himself getting distracted. He never gets distracted and if that were to happen, he'd usually get rid of whatever was distracting him. Though, he didn't want to do that, not when that distraction was you.
His artificial mind drifted back to you, your kind words and the smile on your face. He remembered the way his sentries were... fond of you during their visitation, which was odd since they weren't programmed that way. He remembered how you didn't stare up at him with fear, despite the way he loomed over you with his sentries holding you in place.
Maybe that's the reason why he's distracted; it was probably the fact that you weren't scared of him or the way you were openly kind to him, which was something he definitely wasn't used to.
And why was he wanting more of it?
He let out a growl of frustration as he couldn't stop thinking about the interaction you both had, couldn't stop thinking about you.
He was supposed to feel hatred towards humanity, yet there was something about you that made him think otherwise. You were only one human that somehow managed to change him in some way and it almost made him not want to end humanity, and it was all because of you and that one interaction you both had.

You were in the tower with the Avengers, with them claiming it was to keep you safe from Ultron while they figured out a plan to destroy him. And you almost wanted to protest that last part.
"What do you mean 'safe'?" You asked, confused by the information that you've been given.
Why would he harm humanity? He hasn't hurt you.
"He knows about you, [____]." Steve spoke, making you turn your attention to him. "He knows you're associated with us, he could use you as leverage."
"Leverage? Why would he-"
You were cut off when Jarvis spoke up, catching everyone's attention.
"There appears to be someone in the elevator." He spoke, making everyone confused along with you.
"Who is it?" Asked Tony, pacing around the room.
"I am unsure, the camera feed is distorted."
This seemed to have put everyone off before Tony, Steve, and Thor left the room to check who this mystery visitor was, leaving you and the others in the room. The silence was near unbearable, since you didn't know exactly how to speak to the others. You were brought back when you heard a sudden commotion, presumably coming from the elevator which made you a little curious. Without hesitation, you stood up and walked out of the room towards the elevator, ignoring the others words of protest.
"Hey, who-" you started as you saw Tony with his blasters up.
"If you could just let me explain why I'm here-" the person, or rather, machine inside the elevator spoke.
You stopped just mere feet away from them as you heard that familiar voice, his familiar voice. You stepped a little closer until you saw him in view, your eyes widening slightly.
What was he doing here? Was he here for you?
"There's been a change of plans and I-" Ultron spoke, but he was cut off again.
"Really? How do we know that your mindless sentries aren't just waiting to ambush us at any moment?" Steve asked, his shield raised.
"Ultron?" You spoke up softly, catching the group's attention.
You watched as he locked gazes with you and you could've sworn that his expression softened upon seeing you, which oddly made your heart flutter a bit.
"[____], stay back!" Tony warned, slightly tearing his attention away from Ultron.
And that was a mistake on his part.
Ultron suddenly stepped forward and pushed past them, making his way towards you. You felt your heart race at the sudden action yet you didn't take a step back as he did so, your head tilting up to meet his gaze. The Avengers were by your side in a second to try and "protect" you but you stopped them, keeping your gaze on the automaton in front of you.
"What are you doing here?" You asked softly, slightly tilting your head.
He didn't answer immediately and let out a quiet hum before bringing up one of his hands to your face, a light shiver climbing your spine as you felt the metal of his hand on your skin.
"I... I came to see you." He replied after a moment of silence, gently stroking your cheek with the back of his metallic fingers.
His answer no doubt shocked everyone in the room, including yourself.
You couldn't help the tiny smile you gave in response to his words, a soft breath escaping your lips as your heart fluttered.

It's been a good week since then and he hasn't made any initiative to wipe out humanity, but you didn't know that of course. You were completely unaware of the effect you had on Ultron, unknowingly changing his mind because of your unwavering kindness. The Avengers noticed this but didn't say anything, not wanting to possibly bring back his original plan if it meant letting him stick close to you, even if it was in the tower as well.
You didn't know why he was considered a threat, claiming that he'd harm you and take over the world. He never did harm you or even made an attempt to do so, his sentries didn't even do that. Though, that was because he'd have to tell them to, which he didn't and he never would.
"My love, what are you doing?" The soft tone of Ultron spoke, bringing you from your thoughts.
You were currently sitting in his lap with one of his arms in your own, your back against his chest as you placed a bunch of little stickers on his arm.
"You haven't been mean to anyone in the past week, so I'm rewarding you." You replied softly, placing a small sticker of a duck on the metal.
"And you're doing that with stickers?" He asked almost teasingly, gently tugging you closer with his other arm. "How vile."
You let out a soft giggle in response, placing one more sticker on his arm along with the growing cluster. You placed down the half used sheet of stickers on the table in front of you, then snuggled back into him.
You had unknowingly saved the world from total annihilation all because you were kind to Ultron, but you'd never really know that since you weren't convinced that he had a plan to destroy humanity. Hell, you weren't convinced that he'd hurt other people because he never hurt you, though that's just what you thought. You were completely oblivious about the "situation" and no one brought it up, not wanting to actually bring about the end of humanity.

Might write a part 2 to this expanding on the "everyone notices Ultron's change in behavior due to [name]'s kindness and they're completely oblivious about it" part since the only "everyone" that notices is the Avengers, so- idk, might write a part two
