(and to be clear to anyone who reads romance novels in English or romance novels originally written in English—this does affect your reading habits regardless of whether or not you're American because the American market is a huge part of driving sales for these books, a ton of romance novelists are American, and the big 5 publishers do dominate much of the English-language publishing world and are, unfortunately, American)
