Koi Betta Fish

Generally, patterns on Bettas appear because of genes that affects the color layer, Koi Bettas has the marble gene. The Koi Betta fish is a unique betta. The marble trait doesn’t show up right away. It’s developed over time during the fish’s lifetime, in a random manner. It causes their primary color to change and splotchy pale patches to develop on the body and fins.

You’ll start out with a fish with one color, and then they change. Koi bettas have been bred to look similar to the koi fish often seen in Japanese ponds. These freshwater fish are known best for their beautiful fins and color. Bettas can breathe from their labyrinth organ which enables the fish to breathe from the surface, so they can breathe oxygen.

As to their behavior, Koi Bettas can be quite aggressive, especially males, however they have amazing personalities and they tend to be very interactive.

Koi Bettas, irrespective of their color, are still Betta splendens and need the same care as any other Betta.

Enjoy some pictures of Perikles in his 10 gallon. I took them after the water change, excuse the dirt flying around. So he has quite some damage on his fins, and its not really growing back. Im a little worried about him, any tips? I'm currently changing his water daily, 50%. He's in a heated and filtered 10 gallon tank and gets live food on a daily basis.

Hey Fishblr, or Bettablr, either one!

I need help shopping for tanks. I want some honest opinions on the best 5GAL tanks you’ve ever used. I want to upgrade my bettas into new tanks but I want to make sure they’re in a good tank.

I’m ideally looking for one that’s got lighting and filtration included. I’m not picky if its an internal filter or a clip on, so long as its a GOOD filter. 

Amazon is great because you can read reviews on tanks, but most of those people are not the sort of experts that can be found on here and I trust ya’ll much more than them.

Please let me know what the best 5GAL tanks are! I’m in the market for 2 of them because I have two bettas.

If there is a great one that doesn’t come with filtration, still let me know. Then I will just need recommendations for the best filter.
