There is a dingy dinner a handful of feet ahead that Skye had barely noticed with how distracted she is with how Fitz looks a lot better just from less than an hour of driving and talking.

“Well, I am not your mom, so, duh, that is a stupid question.”

She is trying to be joyful, but Fitz responds with an earnest smile that knocks the playfulness out of her. They walk towards the dinner in silence and their hands do not touch but they are so close that Skye can almost feel the static of skin against skin crawling up her arm.

“I hope they have chocolate banana cream pie.”
