i dont get ftms who want to be gay men. like i like bl but i always kind of figured everyone knew it was totally made up. like these are fictional characters written by women for women to enjoy and that they aren't representative of real gay guys and it'd be weird to act like they are. but i guess not. tbh it's kind of interesting bc i think there's like two sides to the spectrum of fujoshis and that's voyeur <--> self insert. people who sit in the metaphorical cuck chair vs ppl who project onto the characters and imagine themselves in their shoes. + also a comparison to be made btwn the latter and booktok slop enjoyers. self inserting fujos often come off as temporarily embarrassed booktok slop enjoyers, theyre into all the sexist tropes/stereotypes of the average booktok romance/romantasy slop but they know it's bad. but they don't get why. so bl manhwa that's basically just reinventing the hetslop wheel with a rainbow coat on top is their alternative. tbh u could make that argument for the voyeur fujos as well. i think there can also be a discomfort with ur own body and/or projecting those desires onto someone who is female like u. like by making both of them men you automatically put some distance btwn u and the characters. it's harder for u to project onto them and therefore makes it safer to consume or something. i dont know if any of that makes sense btw i didnt even try to tie any of those thoughts together properly. picture them on a corkboard connected by string or something
