Here's a phylogenetic diagram including some of my headcanons regarding the evolution of the tribes. Also threw in a bunch of my own fan tribes because why not. (Now that I'm looking at it, this could probably be connected to an au)

Some random related notes:

Reefwings, Trenchwings, Shorewings, and Echowings are all subspecies of the Seawing. While Shorewings are the most common and have the largest above-water population, all four can be considered Seawings, and thus would be able to become part of the royal family if they were to marry or bee born into it. Queen Coral herself is actually a cross between Reefwing and Shorewing. All four subspecies can be found all over the ocean, but they are mostly concentrated near the continents.

Darkwings and Starwings are two subspecies of the Nightwing that evolved as a result of the tribe splitting between two locations. Darkwings evolved from the Nightwings located in renewal, and Starwings evolves from the Nightwings located in the rainforest as a result of breeding with Rainwings.

Due to the fact that they share a close common ancestor in the Flamewing, both Skywings and Sandwings have a chance to be born with firescales, due to their fire being naturally hotter than other tribes.

Runningheart, WindClan (f), Deputy and former Queen, highly organized with manic vices; Oakfur, RiverClan, (m), senior Warrior often ignored; Goldenfur, WindClan, (m), the golden boy terrified of failure; Lionclaw, ThunderClan, (f), jumps into battle too quickly but has good intentions; Shadowstorm, SkyClan, (f), rejected by her mother; Dawnlight, ThunderClan (f), a survivor; Flamewing, RiverClan medicine cat, has an ill litermate

Runningheart - A loyal and decisive she-cat. Runningheart loves to run an organised clan, as she believes with organisation comes structure and efficiency and so will try her best to ensure every cat does their part. She acts very decisively no matter what the situation, and often in troubled times she can make some questionable snap decisions, but she does it all in service of her clan, as she values WindClan and the future of her kits above everything else, as far as she’s concerned the other clans are on their own, 15/10

Oakfur - A proud and confident tom. Oakfur will often give advice to younger cats on how to improve, but he often does it uninvited with an air of superiority in his voice, so he generally gets ignored. He’s an extremely strong swimmer and will often be the first cat to attempt any kind of water rescue and will often be the one to get them to safety, he will often tell cats that fall into the river how lucky they were that he was there and give them some (unasked for) water safety tips, 13/10

Goldenur - A kind and hardworking tom. Goldenfur is determined to always do the right thing, he always wants to help every cat and get the best out of any situation, because of this he is terrified of things not working out , and he will always take it hard and blame himself if things go wrong. He works hard to try and help his clan as much as he can, sometimes completely exhausting himself after spending all day on the moor, especially in leaf bare, and he will never take anything off the fresh kill pile until he is sure everyone else has eaten, 13/10

Lionclaw - A courageous and loyal she-cat. She’s want many cats in other clans call a “typical ThunderClan” brave and a little reckless with just enough poking her nose into other clans business, but she means well. Any sign of hostility towards her clanmates she is ready to attack, even if she doesn’t have a full understanding on the situation yet, if she’s misread a situation and realises she will quickly stop and apologise, feeling pretty embarrassed. Despite her being a little trigger happy she is a strong and valued warrior, whenever she is needed to attack she will often send her opponents running (or limping) away shortly after first clashing with them, 14/10

Shadowstorm - An introverted and determined she-cat. Shadowstorm doesn’t understand why her mother rejected her and she feels like it’s something she did wrong, because if this she has worked hard to perfect every battle move, every hunting technique in a desperate bid to please her mother and reassure herself that she’s not the problem. She’s very introverted and lacks confidence in herself, even though all her hard work and training has made her the finest warrior in the clan, her clan often rallies around her and they try their best to give her some much deserved confidence, 15/10

Dawnlight - A brave and hard working she-cat. Dawnlight has been through a lot, but she has always made it out on the other side. She can get haunted by her past so she often keeps her mind occupied by doing work, some cats think she’s crazy for taking on so much but the order to it all comforts her, 15/10

Flamewing - A gentle and and intelligent tom. Flamewing was inspired to become a medicine cat after seeing the struggles his litter ate went through, he couldn’t bear to see them in that much pain and feel like he couldn’t do anything to help. He learnt quickly and grew into a fine medicine cat, who treats his patients with the upmost care and patience, he works tirelessly trying to find a cure or at least a more effective treatment for his littermate, 14/10
