Welcome to the Dark Academia Scenarios Flash Event

This is an 18+ multifandom event!

🖤 Rules

Read carefully as this flash event is different from the bingo.

This is still a zero pressure event! You can sign up whenever you like and complete your fills at your own pace.

Sign ups are currently open and as long as your works are at least 1,000 words, feel free to post to the event collections beginning October 15th. After this date, the collections will be open indefinitely.

The 1,000 word minimum is not a typo. We want to encourage longer works with this flash event. If you wish to combine fills from this event and our bingo event, the minimum will then be 1,750 words.

↳ You are also allowed to combine our events with other organized bangs, bingos, fests, etc. as long as the requirements are met.

When you use a square, it should have significant presence throughout your stories. This works really well with fics that have developmental arcs that span the entirety of a piece.

The unique thing about this scenarios flash is that, if you play it right, you can string an entire card into one fic. Meaning, you can use one square per chapter of your fic as you build on the story you wish to tell.

↳ For example, if two prompts from your card are "Secret Society" and "Deadly Rituals"... in one chapter you can reveal the existence of the secret society. Later on, you can show your audience the deadly rituals that initiates might have to endure to become members. But, of course, it's not mandatory to continue building on prompts within your works. This is just one manner in which you can use your flash card.

However, if you're simply planning a oneshot please use one square only.

This event will test your abilities and your creativity. Just remember to have fun!

"Choose not to warn" fics are also allowed, just please tag your works appropriately. We don't want to restrict your creativity with this event. This means dark fiction, dead dove content, fandom, original, and rpf works are welcome!

Your submissions for this event should be new and never seen before content. A new chapter in an already in progress fic is acceptable. A new installment to an already in progress series is also acceptable.

We will be offering 5 squares for this event! The mods will be drawing inspiration from dark academia and the gothic fiction genre for these prompts.

If for some reason you don't like a square, you can ask for a swap. You can tell us what you want and we'll take it into consideration when making the change for your card! (aka we'll just put whatever you ask for on the card during the swap period so please be specific!)

Only 2 squares will be up for swaps for 1 week after receiving your card.

Cards will be delivered via Tumblr DM or Tumblr Submission. Please have the appropriate settings turned on so we can reach you, otherwise sending your card will be difficult.

It would be best to enable all post types for submissions. You should also ensure that the "hide (your blog name) from people without an account” setting is turned off as well.

Icy’s Last Overnight!!! Zine Preorder ~9 Hour Flash Event!

I am so so so excited that tonight is my last overnight shift at the police department (although don’t get me wrong, I’m super bittersweet about it too and one of the officers made me cry this morning *although I’m super proud of myself and held it together until he left) and it’s probably going to be far worse tonight xDD).

In honor of my last shift I’ve decided to hold a flash zine event! Whoot! It’s going to follow the same outline of the one from the previous weekend (see below) except that the hours of the event are solely during my shift (and a half hour cap on each end to account for drive time).

And those hours are: 

2230 hours (the time of this post) to 0730 hours tomorrow (05-26-19)!!!

The event is pretty straightforward this time around and everyone will reap the benefits of additional preorders, so be sure to reblog and share if you have already purchased and if you were considering, now is an excellent time!

The Event

Each zine preordered during the time above will increase the number of pages dedicated to snippet fics by one!

(i.e. if three people preorder zines during this event there will be three additional pages of snippet fics which could be three small fics or possibly one larger 1k mini fic!)

A previous met stretch goal (40) allowed for the inclusion of 3-6 snippet fics and based on layout that’s going to be set at 5. All of those fics are smaller ones though to fit per page. This event could see some larger ones (think 1k mini fics) added to the zine as well as some more additional smaller ones! Whoot whoot!

So if you’d like to see some extra content be sure to get the word out and get those preorders in~! ♥

Isaac is the first one to show up at the loft. Derek can’t say that he’s surprised; Isaac was faster than the other betas at figuring out how to use his senses, and has always been more sensitive to them. It makes sense that he would be the first to feel From inside the loft, Derek can smell his unease, and smiles. A bitten wolf wouldn’t understand what’s happening. But Derek knows, has experienced it before, and is already prepared. He’s been feeling the effects of the upcoming event for last three days. He’s been planning for it for even longer. Erica and Boyd show up together a few hours after Isaac, which isn’t a surprise either. Since graduating high school, the pair have been practically one unit. For Derek, seeing how healthy and strong their relationship is makes something warm and content curl in his belly. They've all grown so much, and watching Erica and Boyd grow together reminds Derek of his parents; Erica has his mother’s fierceness, and Boyd his father’s calm.

As he watches them curl together on the couch, content with what’s to come, Derek thinks that will be the end of it. After all, Jackson followed Lydia out of state to go to college, Scott can still be leary of him even though he’s accepted Derek as his alpha, and the others won’t be able to feel the pull in the same way. It doesn’t bother Derek, not really. He knows that they all have their own lives that they have to live. And it’s not like he asked them all to come together anyway. Heck, he never even really mentioned what was happening and why it should be celebrated. That’s why he’s surprised when Stiles barges into the loft, a pillow clutched under his arm, smile wide as he takes in Derek’s confused expression. Before he can say anything though, Erica is calling out at Stiles for cuddles, and he falls into the pile on the couch with a content sigh. Of course Stiles would know about the event. Of course he would show up for it. Derek doesn’t really know why he was surprised at all. Stiles is always there. Right before dinner, Scott shows up with Allison, looking blissed out and happy to be around everyone. He let’s Derek rub a hand against his neck to scent mark him without complaining, and doesn’t bat an eye when Derek does the same to Allison. Boyd giggles at how content he looks, laughing even harder when Scott tugs him into a hug. Derek is happy that he showed up. The last of the pack make their unexpected appearance right before everyone goes to sleep, turning in early so that they’ll be ready for what’s to come the next day. It’s almost startling, how relaxed Jackson looks, how pleased he is to see everyone piled together in the living room with pillows and sleeping bags. Sure, he has come a long way since joining the pack, but he can still be a little shit sometimes, so the completely content expression on his face is more than a little surreal. Lydia watches him flop down onto the floor with a fond expression, before claiming the couch for herself, jostling Stiles out of his place without batting an eye. Danny and Kira share a laugh at the display before accepting their places on the floor with gratitude, just happy to have a place to rest after their flights back to Beacon Hills.

Derek watches everyone in his pack relax together, waiting until he hears the last heartbeat slow down with sleep before heading out to make the final preparations. Now that the pack is reunited, he wants everything to be perfect. The first time should leave an impression. ----------- “This is impressive, Sourwolf,” Stiles compliments, whistling low at the sight. Along the lake’s edge, chairs are grouped together, coolers are filled. Derek made sure to dig out the fire pit and stock it with wood for when night falls, and together it all makes for a pretty relaxing sight. Knowing that Stiles approves though makes Derek preen, and it’s harder to hide now with the effects of the moon. He shuffles in the sand, suddenly feeling like he's eleven again with his first crush. “I just wanted it to be special for them,” he admits, probably too honest. Stiles cocks his head to one side, studies him closely, then grins. “I should start calling you Sweetwolf instead,” is all he says, stepping out of Derek’s reach with a laugh. “Come on Sweetwolf, we should get everyone ready for the viewing. It’s almost time, right?” Derek closes his eyes and turns his face up towards the sky. The sun remains a hot pressure on his skin, but the pull of the moon drawing ever closer is a steady thrum. He opens his eyes again, and smiles at Stiles. “Yeah. It’s almost time.” When he takes a step to join the rest of the pack though, Stiles remains frozen. “It’s kind of weird,” he admits finally, “seeing all of you like this. I mean, I understand that the solar eclipse is like a major power boost for all of you, but I didn’t expect everyone to be so-.” Stiles trails off, hunting for a word strong enough to encompass the peace exuding from the werewolves. “Soft.” “You don’t get it,” Derek says in response, not in a harsh way. He tries to explain, thinking about what his mother told him so many years ago. “It’s not that we are stronger during the eclipse. We’re just more settled. Our wolves are closer to us, our senses easier to read. Here, imagine pressing your hand against a glass window and having someone press theirs back on the other side; you aren’t really touching them, but you still feel the sensation of their warmth. You don’t even think about what you’re not feeling. In a sense, that’s how we feel on a normal day. The wolf is there, the same as our human selves are, but they are more distinct, separated by a window of sorts.”

Derek looks out over the pack when staring into Stiles’ eyes becomes too much to handle. “During a lunar eclipse, it’s not that we lose power, but more like we’re suddenly trapped alone in a cement room, trying to feel though that. We still have our power, but whereas it’s always felt natural for us, now it feels foreign and impossible to access. During the solar eclipse though, the window it gone.” He gives into the urge to reach out and take Stiles’ hand, watching in fascination as their fingers curl together. “It’s actually feeling complete warmth and contentment without having to work for it. It’s feeling whole and settled and so relaxed. Kind of like how you feel when you get high, so utterly yourself that nothing can get in the way.” Stiles squeezes Derek’s fingers tight, and Derek smiles at him and tugs him forward. They settle into the chairs left for them side by side without letting go of one another, and Derek thinks that holding onto him feels natural too. Later, he’ll admit that to Stiles, still feeling the rush of the eclipse and the warmth of his presence. He’ll share with him how his mother used to plan trips for them nearly every year so that they could experience the solar eclipse, how his pack would travel together all over and join up with other packs doing to same. He’ll listen as Stiles states that planning something like that with their new pack would be a great idea, how he’s always wanted to travel and how it seems like a great way for everyone to bond more. And later, Derek’ll nuzzle his face into Stiles’ neck, agree that they should do it, press a kiss softly into Stiles’ skin and say that they should do it together. But for now, surrounded by a pack full of warmth and love and enough jagged edges to make an interesting puzzle, Derek doesn’t worry about later. Instead, he just tilts his head back, holds onto Stiles a little tighter, and waits for the eclipse.

FLASH EVENT: SOLAR ECLIPSE

How does the solar eclipse affect werewolves? Does it make them stronger? More in touch with their wolves? More in control? More out of control? Are there traditions that go with the eclipse, and how would our boys celebrate the event?

For the next 24 hours, in celebration of today’s solar eclipse, SWR is hosting a flash writing event for you all to write fics, drabbles and not!fics/headcanons about Sterek/Derek/the Hale pack and solar eclipses. Network members should tag the network by adding @sterekwritingroom to your post, and I’ll compile all your responses into a master post so you can see what each other came up with.

So, this is for the Solar Eclipse flash event over at  @sterekwritingroom!  I wanted to write something where wolf Derek go to be with his anchor!  =3

Summary:  The solar eclipse is a special event where the moon overtakes the sun, and werewolves might lose control.

The moon had an interesting relationship with werewolves.

Werewolves were affected by the moon, but only when the sun fell below the horizon.  The moon, even a full one, didn’t have the same sort of pull over them that a moon at night would.  But the solar eclipse was a special occurrence, an extremely rare one where the moon overpowered the sun just for a few minutes.  For those few hours when the moon traveled across the sun, it was easy for werewolves to lose control if they didn’t have a strong hold on it or a good anchor.

The Hale pack was totally prepared for the solar eclipse.  The werewolves in the pack had trained hard, making sure that their control was impeccable.  And they had all identified their anchors and had made sure that their connections with them were as strong as they could be.  

Stiles was prepared, too.  As a human, he made sure that he had plenty of mountain ash in case any of the werewolves called and needed him to contain them, for mountain ash affected a werewolf no matter how much control the moon had over them.  He didn’t know if any of them would need any help, but he had faith in the strength of his pack.

He heard some strange, non-threatening noises coming from the backyard.  Curious, he went downstairs.  He could make out little scratching sounds against the back door.  He opened the door a crack and peered out.  

There was a huge black wolf sitting in front of the door.  “Hey, Derek!” he greeted the alpha.  “You used the door!  And here I thought that you only knew how to use the window!  I‘m so proud of you.”

The wolf rolled his eyes and trotted into the house, gently pushing Stiles away with his body as he walked by.

Stiles grinned as he closed the door behind them.  He loved to tease Derek so much.

He followed the werewolf up the stairs and into his bedroom.  There, Derek jumped on his bed, turned in circles a few times, then settled down and closed his eyes.

Stiles sat on his bed next to the wolf.  The boy’s hand itched to pet him and see if he really was as soft as he looked, but he didn’t know why Derek was here.  Was Derek starting to lose control?  That couldn’t be possible because Derek had the best control of all of them and for a much longer time since he was a born werewolf.  Not to mention that the wolf looked so peaceful and calm laying there on Stiles’ bed.  “Why are you here?” he murmured.

Derek didn’t move, but his eyes opened and looked up at Stiles for a few moments, then moved his head into the boy’s lap.

Stiles couldn’t resist any more.  He slowly reached his hand down and carefully pet the werewolf’s head.  “Oh, you are soft!” he said happily, stroking further down his back.  Derek’s mouth opened slightly and his tongue hung out a little.  Stiles smiled at the wolf looking so happy.  It was a rare sight, one that he wanted to see more often.

“You know,” he said conversationally as he continued to pet Derek, “I read that werewolves usually tend to go where they feel safe when the moon is strong, often where their anchor is.”

Derek’s eyes shot open and stared at Stiles, and his body trembled slightly.

“I’m going to ask you some things, Derek, and I want you to be honest, okay?” Stiles said gently, then looked down into Derek’s eyes, beautiful even in wolf form.  “Am I your anchor?  Is that why you‘re here?”

Derek looked like he wanted to run away for a few moments, but he held Stiles’s gaze and nodded, then lifted his head and licked the boy‘s cheek and wagged his tail a few times.

Stiles beamed at him.  “So that must mean that you care about me about as much as I care about you!  Does that mean that maybe after the eclipse is over, we can go on a date, with curly fries and kisses and stuff?  Because I would really, really like that.”

A chuffing sound that seemed like a laugh came from the wolf as he nodded.  He stood and nudged Stiles down on the bed, then lay on top of him and closed his eyes.

Stiles chuckled as well.  “Okay, we can stay like this for now.  You silly Sourwolf,” he said fondly, stroking the wolf behind the ears again.

Solar Eclipse Headcanon

@sterekwritingroom I have a headcanon that during a solar eclipse, werewolves gain power! The whole day leading up to totality, they have the ability to transform into full wolf form, are able to lift a considerable amount more of weight (like cars or concrete beams), and their senses are heightened! But after totality, their abilities slowly return to normal and they go on with life as before. I know it’s not extraordinary or anything but that’s what I have in my head!
