14) What animal do they fear most?
Cazadores, all of them. Tell me they’re wrong.
But in all honesty, Adal is always going to have the threat of the Tunnelers from the Divide hanging over her head. She’s taking measures to knock down their population and keep them contained, but she’s seen how fast they can spread and will forever be at least a little worried that she’s not doing enough.
Marius doesn’t have a specific animal he’s frightened of--he has plenty of respect for all the wasteland creatures that can kill him horribly! Whatever it is that might be lurking by his current camp is the one he’s most concerned about.
And for Calidus, it actually is Cazadores. Or more accurately, the kind of animals that don’t seem to pose a major threat, but can ruin someone’s day if they get careless. It’s less a fear for himself at this point, than it is for his kids, who don’t always have the common sense to avoid them.
37) Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
Adal, I established long ago but never worked into a text, remembers things by making up absolutely terrible little rhymes, or for lists and numbers, putting them to a little tune. Does this mean sometimes the rhymes are so bad she has to pause and keep from snickering when she meets someone again? No, why do you ask?
Marius tries to fix his first impressions with someone’s name and face as quickly as he can, cementing a word or two to describe them and make them more memorable. For things like lists, he builds a mental image of the things he needs to remember, relating to each other in order.
Calidus... Just remembers. He has a good head for faces and names in particular, and doesn’t need much prompting to recall something beyond “I needed to remember this because...” Still means he needs to have a reason to recall something, though.
39) How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
Adal feels she’s hardly one to throw stones, and won’t call people out on anything short of flaws causing obvious harm. She’ll readily accept that people aren’t perfect, and is willing to forgive a lot of bullshit so long as an individual is, on the whole, doing their best and not hurting anyone else. She’s been there, and owes a lot to folks who were willing to overlook her worst traits, and hopes she can be that person to others.
Marius is a good bit warier; he’s less charitable overall and more inclined to see the bad in people out of self-defense--they can’t hurt him if he never lets them close. It takes a fair bit of time and effort, and reasons for him to trust someone, before he starts looking past the things he’s picked out as annoying or threatening and start accepting them as a whole person.
Calidus, meanwhile, would make a distinction between tolerating and forgiving a flaw, but would never in so many words ignore them. He’s put up with any number of terrible people whose flaws still made them useful, in the Legion. After, he’d still be willing to work with people he would cheerfully and personally throw off Hoover Dam, if it meant making progress he finds worthy. Having him overlook or accept the worst parts of a person? It really, really depends on the individual and what the stakes were for him. He knows he’s not perfect either, but he won’t ask anyone to deal with him that doesn’t want to, and hopes that others would do the same.
