flex fighters deserves a bigger fanbase imo, it was such a good show and i swear it deserved a 3rd season so much. Hell you even got a badass female who, while serving as a love interest, actually has an interesting arc as a antagonist (not really but to the heroes in s1 she was, you’ll see what i mean if you watch it) who later becomes an ally It had good twists and like I honestly do think tumblr would have been all over rook as like the tumblr sexyman. Like sherlock? John? vilgax from ben 10? nah fam, rook is here 

Tell me people wouldn’t legit simp for this mother fucker, i can just imagine all the x readers and rook’s sex dungeon jokes. Like come on tumblr missed the perfect fucking bandwagon to jump on when it comes to villains we constantly call sexy. I think the reason we honestly don’t see much rook smut is given the fact that a good majority of the cast is teenagers and all you really have to ship him with is kane (which tbh is a good ship as far as im concerned) or Cleo so i understand why we don’t see much rook centered shipping.

Better yet it had an honest to god pretty diverse cast for a cartoon seeing as a good few of the cast we see consistently is pretty diverse.

The cast aside i do think this series is most strongest in its second season as thats when shit really goes down but I do love season 1 as it set up every character perfectly and it really makes season 2 as good as it is as a result of that. I do think that each of the cast members are given pretty good motivation for what they do and that they’re not ignored for whatever character is given the most priority Ricardo struggles with parental and attachment issues as they’re constantly moving from place to place, unable to really bond with people at his schol as his parents business could easily take him to another school where he has to start over again. On Top of that his parents regularly cancel stuff as they’re busy Jake struggles with the death of his mother and how that pretty much made his dad sort of micromanage his life with a huge schedule and all that jazz as sort of like a way to cope.  Nathan himself is arguably the most well put together as he grew up in a big family with plenty of siblings and a very loving grandfather so he had a more stable home in comparison to his two friend. Riya lost her parents and trained to become an assassin whereas Malcolm Kane sort of grew up in a gang ridden neighborhood and made his way out of that ( Only to become a tech man but thats a thing for another day ) so a lot of the characters have solid backstories and motivations I just hope this motivates tumblr or people at large to really check out this gem, it’s not quite hidden but not as popular as i’d like it to be

I thought there was ging to be more confrontation in episode 8 when Jake got grounded so uuhhhhhh I wrote a short little fic. Jake just feels a lot and never really gets the opportunity to process his emotions. The word count is ~800

Oh he was in for it now, Jake could just feel it. Missing cello practice, his dropping grades, and now missing the parent teacher conference. He was losing television privileges for sure, maybe he’d be assigned with more before school activities. Inwardly Jake groaned; his sleep schedule was so ruined.

But that was fine, he would take the punishment and deal. As long as it didn’t interfere too much with being a flex fighter, Jake could manage- even if the door to his apartment appeared particularly daunting. Straightening himself up, he took a deep breath, and walked inside.

All the lights were off, leaving the room to be illuminated solely by the city lights. Everything was awash in a dull blue, and a soft breeze coming from an open window cooled the air. His dad, who was sitting on the loveseat, stood up as soon as he saw Jake.

“Sit,” he said, gesturing towards the now empty chair. So Jake did, and his dad paced a bit before returning in front of him. “School should be your only priority right now. Let’s go over the rules for being grounded.”

Jake’s head snapped up, and he had to crane his neck to look his dad in the eyes. “Rules?” 

His dad continued as though he hadn’t said anything, “You check in when you leave for school and when you get home. And I expect you to make a study schedule and be in bed by 10:00.”

Of all the punishments Jake expected, greater monitoring of his activities wasn’t one of them. “Why are you being so strict? This is too much!”

“You stop missing appointments, then we’ll talk about what too much is. Your mom-” His dad suddenly looked exhausted and he sighed, running a hand down his face before walking away. “You just don’t understand.”

That wasn’t fair. Before he knew it, Jake was on his feet. “Dad!”

His dad didn’t even look at him as he said, “Do your homework.”

So that was it? All these years of pushing, and pretending that everything was alright, and only his Dad got to feel anything about it? There was a burning in his chest, tight and coiling, and Jake’s hands shook. His voice trembled as he spoke. “I get that losing her hurt, but-”

Whipping around to face him, there was a flash of something across his dad’s face–a tightening around his eyes, a quick wobble of the chin–before it was overtaken by the stern, hard lines of anger. At least now he was looking at him. “Go to your room.”

“I lost her too!”

“Now.”

“But Dad-”

“Do not make me repeat myself.” His tone bore no room for argument. He was only across the room, but there may as well have been an ocean between them, one rife with storms and dark, churning waters.

They stared at each other for what felt like a millennia. Breaths were coming quick and deep as Jake’s chest heaved; his jaw clenched so tightly it was a wonder he didn’t crack a tooth. His father stood absolutely still, a statue of Zues about to enact his divine anger. “You can’t control my life like this,” Jake ground out. “Her death hurt me too. And I get that you think that if you have the perfect son, with perfect grades, doing well at the most prestigious extracurriculars, then he must be doing perfectly! That you have been doing everything right! And then we could carry on like everything is fine and dandy and that mom never existed! But everything is not perfect!” Jake’s words felt as though they were hooked inside his throat, his voice cracking and breaking as he forced them out. “She died, and I needed a dad and you weren’t there! You still aren’t here! You hide behind your work and tell me what to do from behind a screen, and sometimes it makes me wonder-.”

“Enough.”

“-do you even want to see me?

“I said enough, Jake!”

Jake was quiet for a moment, mouth opening and closing around unspoken words. His lips pressed shut in a twisted line, and finally he looked away. “Gotcha.” He managed after an eternity. His throat felt tight and tears pricked his eyes, “We won’t talk about this. And I’ll be grounded and tell you when I leave, and when I get back, and send you those stupid study guides, and go to my room like a good son. Congratulations on getting what you wanted.”

With that, Jake stormed back to his room, knick-knacks rattling on the shelves as he passed by them. Behind him, his dad sighed, his own footsteps becoming quieter before silencing completely behind the soft click of a door shutting.

A wave of searing emotion passed through him, and for the first time in his life, Jake slammed his door shut.
