He doesn't have time to learn. Foot for pedal, test it first. He hops on, holding onto the saddle. It was like holding onto a weird horse. He puts his boot on the pedal and rocks it back and forth. He looks back at the fin. Forward for flaring, back for closing. Simple enough. He makes sure his boot is seated well enough.

"We gotta get airborne, with all this shit happening! I got a handle on the pedal. Let's go!"

Sasuke knew well enough to keep his distance from the dragon, but he’d never seen a creature like this in The Hive before. It didn’t appear aggressive either, just cautious. He thought for a moment, then pulled out a baggy of cat treats from his pocket. He didn’t know if the dragon would be interested in cat treats, but it was all he had on him at the moment. 

Sasuke held the baggy up and jumbled it slightly so it would make a bit of noise.

Steve recoils just as much as Toothless does, more so from being startled by the scrambling of the dragon.

“Whoa, dude, chill! Chill! It’s my pet snake! The egg I showed you? It hatched! This is my snake!”

[I sense you may be in immediate danger, Steven.]

“Oh and I bought it that pet collar too. So you two can talk! It’s not gunna bite you, you big turd. It doesn’t even breathe fire.”

[I constrict things very hard, but only to protect Steven.]

He scrambles back onto the saddle and pats Toothless’s side.

“It’s like riding a big horse. Except a lizard. God, honestly? Can’t even believe dragons are real, where have they been my whole life?”

He places his boot on the pedal, moving it experimentally.

“I should get some custom boots for this if we’re gunna be flying alot. Wait, what if I got you a cool custom patch that you could stick on your saddle? Like a matching patch! Not sayin’ I’d own you or anything, I can’t do that, but like, you know, a partner thing!”

“Alright, you big turd, let’s get going to avoid either of us getting hurt.” He’s come totally geared up. His leather jacket has some thing kevlar lining in it with plastic elbow and shoulder pads, and under that he’s got a real bullet-proof vest. His revolver is strapped to his side, and he’s got his machine gun slung around his back. Grenades are clipped to a bandoleer along his chest.

“Just wanted to say how much I appreciate ya comin’ along t’support me and Vivi while we try to figure this out. I haven’t introduced you two yet, but...we’ll get there eventually.”
