I’ve started rewatching generator rex again and yesterday the thought popped into my head that ‘this hits different after coronavirus’ for whatever reason, but like it kind of does?
Thinking about how nanites and the EVO pandemic would pan out in the real world. Ignoring the consortium trying to cover up their mistakes, how much would world leaders sacrifice and invest for a cure?
Like with both current and previous pandemics, at the beginning there would probably be a large spectrum of theories on where it came from and who it affects, leading to some outlandish conspiracy theories and discriminatory behaviour because people wouldn’t initially know how it was ‘spreading’.
Different states and organisations would react to the EVO pandemic, with some funding cure and contain projects whilst others might eliminate or weaponise theirs.
In a number of countries, the notion of a cure and/or controlling EVOs would probably become a central tool to winning elections.
Then there would probably be a point like with coronavirus where people start caring less (albeit after a much longer period of time) and it gets to the point where EVO attacks only make the news if they are unusual or particularly destructive whilst people try to get on with their lives as governments promote ‘living with the pandemic’ to protect the economy and growth.
Someone like Rex would be in high demand and he’d be a high profile target
