i think that the moment silverflint went from uncompelling to incomprehensible for me was when silver says that flint is the reason every person he loved died and used that moment to insert himself into the lineup. i thought that the fucked up little ‘silver uses flint as a tool of self-harm to make himself unrecognizeable to himself’ plot was fine i guess but like… i ship hannigraham and those boys are fucked up but they are in lockstep with how fucked up they are. from that moment on silver had flint in a chokehold. any action against silver was an action against thomas, gates, and miranda. silver maneuvered himself into a position where he was a figure that could offer a redemption to flint that would come out of the mouths of those he had loved and lost and flint, who was lost to himself the moment miranda died (miranda also a figure who had the power to offer thomas’s benediction), was helpless in the face of it. it was possible for him to have killed silver up until that point but no further, and silver was never was more willing to kill than in defense of tenuous power over someone.
