Drifting from gravity
The hum of the fluorescent lights
a low thrumming in my skull.
Another notification blinks.
The weight of it all, a physical press
against my chest, my shoulders,
anchoring me to this tired chair,
this predictable view.
There's a wanting, sharp and clean,
like the edge of a shattered glass shard,
to be unbound. To loosen
these invisible tethers that hold me
to the mundane, the heavy,
the relentlessly real.
I imagine a lightness,
a rising without effort,
as if my bones had turned to helium,
my skin to the thinnest membrane.
Floating upward, past the ceiling,
through layers of grey sky,
leaving behind the concrete and the clamor.
A drifting, effortless journey
into the cool, silent dark.
Not an escape from something, exactly,
but an arrival somewhere else.
A place unburdened by consequence,
untouched by the familiar ache.
Another reality whispers at the edges
of my awareness, a shimmer in the periphery.
A world where gravity loosens its grip,
where the rules are fluid,
where the self might dissolve
and reform into something lighter,
something free.
A longing for that buoyant departure,
a silent wish to simply float away.

Hello, hi! In honor of World Reef Day, we invite you to take a rest from all the rainbows and feast your peepers on these weird smiley water creatures.
Behold the blubber-evidenced chub of the plesiosaur. Yes, ma’am! @alphynix posts paleontology art, feathers dinosaurs, and curates scientific curiosities:
A sea slug detaches its head from its body (Spoiler! Nobody dies!). Turn to @todropscience for all your marine science and biology needs:
Swim with him! @jellygummies is full of the bouncy, candy-coated uncanny:
Visit @donutdrawsthings for artistic renderings of other things that may or may not dance and dwell in the wet:
And here are some sounds to soothe your submarine musings. Happy Tuesday, Tumblr.
it’s like as soon as i start posting frequently on here something happens.
Float away
Float away
Gone to stay
And never return
I'm afraid, one day I'll just float away
