I love you. Let me lead in with that, just to make sure that y'all know it, although if you didn't then clearly I've been doing it wrong.

So here's the thing. It's gasp Valentine's Day! faux surprised face A.k.a. Socially asserted day of planned romantic spontaneity and reminder that To Be With Someone is one of the big normative pillars of social constructs in the Western World.I consider today to be a sort of magnifying lens of things that are going on every single day.

In love with someone? Rock on! Express it any way you want - or don't, if you so choose, because sometimes harboring secret feelings feels kind of fun.

Not in love with someone? Rock on! You are no less a person for not being in love with someone.

Love several someones? Rock on! Love isn't a limited resource. In fact, I look at it the way Dolly Levi looks at money inHello Dolly! :: "Money is like manure. It's not worth a thing unless it's spread about, encouraging young things to grow."

Love is not limited to romance! There are so many kinds of love in the world, and today more of the other kinds should get some play, just as much as romantic love. In fact, I wrote this exactly 1 year ago:

Happy Valentine's Day, Blisstopia - tell the people you love that you love them. And I don't just mean romantic love, I mean all kinds of love - romantic love, parental love, family love, bro love, sisters in spirit love, I love the way you sliced that specimen for the microscope slide take me against the mass spec machine take me hard oh god and respect your methods even if your papers drive me nuts love... all the love.
