Florence with Massimiliano Donnarumma
So this happened today! My mother, who is a bit too happy about having me back in the family home, (per usual) casually tossed a chore at me... “Since you need to make room for your stuff, why don’t you go clean out the garden’ shed?” I answered to her request with a curse! “Wtf mom, really?” 10 minutes later I was already in compliance! Buried against the back wall, in a dark corner and covered by tools, chicken wire and spiderwebs, these absolutely stunning beauties have been waiting for me for God knows how long! It turns out these doors are all original to our house, most of them were removed in the 70s when my parents did the first renovation, a couple of them actually came off the barn that many years later my brother has converted into his home! Cannot really date with certainty any of these, but I am sure there are a few hundred years of history nailed to these boards. I noticed, aside from the occasional sign of repair, that a couple of them were double and triple boarded... it means they were used as main doors for the building, and layers of wood were applied to keep warm indoors. Soooo, let me introduce you all to my brand new set of backdrops for my next cookbook’s photography!!! They are super big and terribly heavy, I feel like Xmas! We will get to spend some time together this winter, don’t intend to renovate them, just a deep clean and maybe make them a bit lighter where I can remove excess planks. And those colors! Have you seen those colors?! As if it was done on purpose: brown, red, green, grey... and a few more natural shades of wood! What a palette!!! Totally in love and stoked about this crazy wonderful find!!! #supertuscans #fiesole #floremce #tuscany #supertuscan https://www.instagram.com/p/CGpIhwhpqKO/?igshid=1u7nb0uhqxgjk

So many Italians smoke that when my wee buddy and I went up to Fiesole, it was all hazy, smokey and blurry! Humans, honestly, I ask you!
